If you could afford it, would you go green?

With out taking in to account how expensive it can be to go green, if you could afford it, would you go totally green? Would you drive and electric car, put solar panels on your house, grow your own vegetables and recycle? I think more of us would go green if we could just afford the conversion but maybe it is just me. What do you think?

absolutely! i would invest in solar panels not necessarily because i want to go green but because i want to save money. we are green when it comes to a number of things already just because it is cheaper such as growing fruits and veggies and recycling and shopping at thrift stores etc.

I think it would be so much fun to watch my electric meter go backwards because I was generating enough power to give electricity back to the grid.

Hi mac6304, yes, definitely would go green. As it is now, my sister (who I live with) has solar panels, but no electric or hybrid cars. We try to recycle as much as possible. A tiny garden for tomatoes and string beans...and she uses canvas bags for groceries unless she forgets then its plastic ones from the store. A lot of her light bulbs are "green". We do what we can but of course not all the time and not always due to the convenience of thnigs that may not be green. I think every little bit helps.

I absolutely love my "green" light bulbs. They are really not very expensive when you realize how long they last. And I saw a noticeable difference on my electric bill when I switched to them.

I have been changing the ways I live hopefully for the better. I work from my home and do things online to make money. I have planted a garden with many different types of seeds i get from my garden seed exchange like squash, zucchini, tomatoes, beans, okra, cucumbers, peppers, and many others. I carry my bags I made from scrap material with my cricut expression to get my grocerys. I shop at thrift stores and buy clothes and then if they don't fit I sell them on ebay and other auction sites. I clip coupons and also trade the ones I don't use with others to help save on my food. I haven't found a way to be conservative with my pickup as I have to have it to haul my animals and hay for them. I have chickens so I get white and brown eggs daily. We have looked at getting solar panels for our home as our home is total electric and since we live in the country we only have a electric bill for utilities but wish we could save there too. I am a once a month cook I will spend one whole weekend cooking food from scratch and putting it in the freezer so I have more time to enjoy my family and friends when they visit and can still provide a nice meal for them. I am always glad to share with others what I do and where to get the items I exchange and how we live green.

Of course I would do that except grow my own vegetables. I am not a kind of person who would like to spend the rest of the day outdoor gardening. I'd rather pay a gardener (assuming I have all the money to do that) or just buy it from the grocery stores. But I always wanted an electric car. I like the idea of the car which would be very quiet and wouldn't smell like gas. Put solar panels would be a great thing, since I am living in a tropical country, where the sun shines everyday, I would save lots of energy and that would be great. Of course, if I can afford them all, I would take them all at once.

That would be awesome to live there and be able to live of sun power.

If I could afford to go green, I definitely would. I'm concernded with the environment, but I have to think of my own needs too. But even if I can't afford to go green all the way, I still try to do my part to help the environment by recycling trash, conserving water and electricity, etc.

I definitely agree with you. I think certain life changes are hard to make because it's so expensive to do so. For example, I've been vegan for more than ten years, and it frustrates me to go food shopping, because the vegan version of anything is always double or triple the price of a non-vegan item. I think that a lot of people want to make changes that can not only help the environment but also animal welfare, but they can't only because the companies that promote those things try to get as much money out of it as possible.. so it's weird how it all works. In the sense that, in order to make a difference in the world you have to pay an arm and a leg to do so!! But I think if it was more affordable to buy a hybrid car, as well as set up a house that was running 100% green, a lot of people would do so. And even the people who think global warming is some hoax, might even try it out, and might even believe global warming is real!!

Yes, I definitely would go green. Not because I want to be different, but being green has longtime benefits. I am already looking into installing a solar panel just for the lights because here where I live every time a storm hits, we don't have power up to two days. I grow some vegetable and use a recyclable cloth bag for shopping.

Hi, Mac! I'd do it in a heartbeat! I do all I can, but it is very expensive. I wish it weren't, because the planet needs everyone's help. Much of the time, after the original cost, green methods are cheaper than the traditional ways...

I definitely would. I try my best to go green with what I can afford but I admit that I contribute to the detriment of this planet. Still, if I could have the money to ultimately go green, I would in a heartbeat.

Of course I would love to go totally green, but to me it's not only about the money, but I would also need the extra time and patience that comes along with planting veggies, using slow hybrid cars, etc. It's an art if we can go green without spending too much money.

Yeah! I also would agree on that, I like to go green too. I for one is nature lover and I love the cool breeze and the fresh air. Further more, I want to conserve energy and prevent pollution. I say, I am "GO for Green"

Although it may seem like going green is expensive, I believe that in the long run, it is still much cheaper and save you more money than if you use fossil fuels and don't recycle. I've read from one article in the net about a guy who set up his own solar panel and save more than 50% off his electric bill. It may be complicated and hard to start with, but once you set it up, you would be able to save more and greater deductions from your expenses. Moreover, you also contribute to saving the environment from degradation. Green is the way to go! :)
