My dog likes my clothes

I just wanted to share given I have nothing else on the brains right now. Call it a brain drain, if you may, because I've been working and I'd spent time participating here. I have a Pomeranian. Well, I have more than one dog but I'd like to discuss this particular one. She's four years old and she's a nice dog with occasional tantrums. Nothing too serious. Sometimes she's just a little bit of a brat when she wants something she can't have. Anyway, she has this behavior that I've noticed since she was a puppy. When she was 3 months old, when I first had her, she would sleep on my neck. YES! She'd snuggle because she was really tiny. As she grew older and heavier, of course, I could no longer take it. Otherwise, I'd suffocate. So, sometimes I'd let her on my bed. If not, she has her own little basket with soft bedding... BUT... No matter where I put her, she always seems to prefer to lay on my clothes. Sometimes I'd have my clean clothes folded on my bed, she'd climb atop and sleep there. She'd do the same for my laundry, too. Sometimes, when I'd just taken off my shirt or jeans and put it on my bed, she'd run for it and then she'd lay there. Seems like she enjoys laying on my clothes. Odd but I think it's cute. Just thought I'd share.

Seems natural to me. Your clothes smell like you. But how does she get your clothes to lay on in the first place? Do you keep clothing on the floor?

No, I dont put my clothes on the floor. I am a clean freak. They're usually on my bed before I put them into my closet or before I put them into the washer. When I'm home, my dog usually follows me around so I'd put her on my bed since I am normally in my room. That's how she gets my clothes.

Hi rg, well my solution would be to make the dog sleep outside then she'd have to leave your clothes alone, otherwise your clothes will start to smell doggy and be full of dog hairs. I should add I'm not fond of dogs as they like to try and bite me.

My dogs don't have that "dog smell". They're clean and I can't imagine putting them outside for the night. Well, that's because I love dogs :)

I think it's cute that she like's to lay on your clothes. I think she want's to feel close to you and the next best thing is to lay on your clothe's and she can smell your scent on the shirt or jean's you just took off. she is using them has her comfort blanky.

aaawww! how sweet. usually its cats that love to lay on clothes. my little coco, chihuahua/papillon mix, loves to lay behind my head. if i make her lay elsewhere on the bed, after i go to sleep, i will wake up with her almost on top of my head, she squeezes up there somehow even if im close to the headboard.

My doberman does that. But it's usually just anything soft laying around on the floor. One time she even crawled into a laundry basket that had our CLEAN down comforter in it..yes a 70 lb doberman in a tiny basket. it was awesome. and our other dog has also done it on occasion. I have a bag of old clothes sitting in our hallway, and the doberman pulled them out and nested in them as well. Then sucked on a shirt and tore it apart.

My dogs don't stink. In fact they smell a lot better than most people do.
