I really love traveling, and sometimes that means trying some pretty crazy food. I have eaten fried bees, scorpions, live octopus, live sea urchins, beatle larvea, and baked snakes before during my trip to the areas around himalayas. some i only tried a little, because not because they taste bad but because the though of it really creeps me out ( the bugs especially). However i love sushi and sea food so i did enjoy the octopus and sea urchines. The snake tasted like.......really tender chicken. That's some of the weird food experience i had. they are cool to try. However, i wouldn't want to eat any of them on a daily basis. What are some of the weird foor you have eaten before?

Oh Yucky!!! snakes and bugs? that is interesting to hear but also gross.. hahaha I won't mind eating all vegetables in every place I travel but bugs and other weird meat? I don't like to try. I better drink water when I am hungry than eating all those bugs and snakes? I can't do that. Good for you, you did not feel like throwing up? hahahah

I think i have bad gagging reflexes haha...maybe.. but after i crunched the bee i did jump up and ran on the spot crasily for a few minutes with my hands flapping about. lol i promised myself to try everthing at least once, so i did just eat one bee. It didnt taste bad...but the thought make me feel weird.

I have never eaten anything that weird before. I don't think I could bring myself to eat bees, scorpions, octopus, sea urchins, beetles, or snakes. I don't like bugs and snakes anyway and I would be thinking about them the whole time while I would be trying to eat it so I know I couldn't do it. I'd be wanting to throw up. lol And I don't like seafood (except for deviled crab) so I know I would be able to eat the octupus and sea urchins because I would be thinking about it the whole time.

Well, for me, frog legs, escargot and snake would be up there. Then, you can also add fried black ink rice. The rice is fried in the "ink" of squids. I don't fancy the frog legs but the escargot and the snake wasn't too bad for my liking. Oh, and one time I was in japan and had worms in candy. That was weird.

I did not mention that i ate dogs too, it's illegal actually to eat dogs but it is considered a delicacy in some parts of our country. but it's been ages since I've eaten and have no plans of eating those kind of animals ever again. Cheers!

Ive tried eating frgs before (the safe to eat frogs found on rice fields). It tastes just like chicken =) Im from the Philippines so this is kinda normal for me to know. Some people from rural areas here even eat dogs, cats, snakes, lizards and some other "delicacies". Its an experience worth keeping especially by the tourists. You guys should try visiting here and experience it.

I think the strangest thing I have ever eaten is canned tongue. It tasted quite nice,as long as you don't think about what you are eating. I am vegetarian now so I no longer eat animals. However I can't understand why some people are grossed out by eating bugs and snakes and other things. Sure, I understand that snakes and grubs are not on our traditional menu, but what is the difference between eating snake meat and eating cow meat? What makes snake meat or wichety grub meat more 'digusting' or 'weird' than eating the flesh of a pig or cow or chicken, dog or cat?

I have tried some strange sauces while I was in other countries, but mostly just watched other people eat stuff. The strangest thing that I have ever seen anyone eat was balut. This was in the Philippines. They wait until the chicken forms a head in the egg. Then, I think, they boiled it. But not completely, like we would eat a hard boiled egg. So you had a baby chick, in some saucey white egg. I wasn't brave enough to try it. It is good to hear that you were brave enough to try these unique foods on your travels though. I wonder if you would have tried the balut.

I dont mind eating ugly things or things that doesn't have shape (or just cooked to that point). but i love baby chicks....they're so cute and fuzzy... i used to have them as pets but most of them got eaten by the neighbor's old fat cat -.-. but i don't think i would be able to hold it down if its just plain hard boiled. I dont even eat regular hard boiled eggs Sunnyside up for me or scramble is good :P

I have eaten octopus before. It took a little mental coaxing to eat them because they were boiled intact, and had tentacles, eyes, etc. I acutally liked them- I used to go to that China Buffet a lot when I lived near it, and always had some every time I went. They were very rubbery, but I liked the flavor of the hot sauce that was on them. And I eat squid. I have also tried escargo (snails) which were wrapped in bacon, and they were very salty. I have eaten rattlesnake and I agree with you, it does taste like tender chicken. Alligator tasted like seafood. I went to the new Chinese Buffet a few days ago and they had frogs legs. I thought of trying them, but I couldn't bring myself to, not becuase I thought they were gross but because I have a pet frog (the same size) and I felt bad thinking about eating it. I couldn't eat an animal that is the same kind of animal I have as a pet. I also do not beleive I would ever want to eat live food of any kind- I would feel too bad about that as well. I mean, meat is alwayas alive before you kill it, but I don't think I could bring myself to eat it alive just like I wouldn't want to actually have to kill the cow, chicken or pig I would eat. I guess I'm just a wimp that way.

I tried cook octopus before and i do like eating them :D When live, i mean it's all choped and washed at prepared, just the thing stil moves. the tentacles climb on the plates and the suckers stick on your tongue. It's kinda cool. I really like escargos. I had those on a cruise on my way to Alaska (weird place to have them lol). I like them alot, except they cooked it in butter. It had a thick coat of butter. I ate and like eating a lot of crazy things, but butter is not one of them. Bleh. :P I heard from my french prof that french have a raw meat dish that's really good. maybe ill try that when i go to france next year :D

"Weird food" is a concept that I'm sure would be different depending on where people live and on what they are used to eating. I stick to pork, beef, chicken, and seafoods like fish and clams. And of course, I also eat vegetables. I don't feel comfortable eating meat that I'm not used to eating, like goat's meat, which some of my friends eat.

I am in my 50's now and when I was in the 20's, I tried all types of strange food in asian restaurants and roadside stalls . Snake meat, squirrel , fried scorpians, fried insects and so on. I never do it again since then and coming to think back that I ate makes me sick. That was the last time I took that .

Oh my gosh!! The bees and stuff would scare me... I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to eat some of that stuff. I tried snails once, but it grossed me out so bad I don't think I'll ever do that again. I know someone who tried dipping fried worms into maple syrup... That was so disgusting to watch! I nearly barfed just from watching it! But he ate all of them that way. Ew.
