Hi ronz, before reading your discussion I thought that English was the national language of Philippines. What I didn't expect that it is Pilipino. I'm from Malaysia and Bahasa Malaysia is our national language. Bahasa is Language in English. My mother tongue is Chinese. My siblings and I speak dialect Hanan with my dad whereas we speak the dialect of Cantonese mixed with Hanan with my mom. Since Malaysia Language is our national language, all secondary school graduate students have to pass the Malaysia language paper, we then can get through the exam. If without the minimum required credit of this language, one is not qualify to enter any college or university here. Have a nice day and happy posting

You are very much welcome ronz! Nice to read your comment left here than has enhanced more info about dialect Oh I see! Visayan is the dialect you and your family speak with one another at home. This is the first time I come across the name of such dialect. I believe there are still lots of other dialects available in your country. other than the two dialects which we are usually speak at home, I do know how to speak Min Nan and Hakka as well. Wish you all the best!

I am a Filipino but i don't use the Filipino language more often. we use English and our local dialect here at home. I can speak Tagalog but the grammar isn't that quite remarkable. I have the Filipino traits but not all of then are commendable so i need to keep just the good ones. nice post you have here kababayan.

i speak visayan less often since my husband is a Manilenio. my son also speaks english and tagalog. i am the only visayan speaking person in the house. my mom and dad speaks surigaonon so the regular visaya is often outdated.

What dialect are you most fluent? My best friend is filipino as well. She speaks tagalog and ilocano. My national language is hawaiian. Though it is a native language, here in Hawaii, english is used much more often.

I am pretty standard and boring haha because my national language is English because I was born and raised her in the USA, and my parents are white and from the USA as well. I am proud of that because hey it is a part of who I am just as much as any other person that is born in another country.
