My most pressing current problem is not having a job. I lost my job about four months ago, my unemployment is about to run out and I'm pregnant. Thankfully my husband still has his job, so we're not completely destitute. It's getting really difficult to get up every day and remain positive that I will find a job. I've been on a few interviews, but I'm to the point now where it's obvious that I'm pregnant right when I walk in. It may be illegal to discriminate against pregnant job candidates, but with so many people looking for a job right now, it's not difficult to find someone who is just as well or better qualified then the pregnant interviewee. It doesn't help that I have only four years' work experience, and only two years from what I would consider to be a real job (first two years was working at a grocery store). I also only have one reference available, and most employers want three. How is someone with little work experience supposed to find three references when you're not supposed to use family? It's all very frustrating, and adds up to me feeling depressed, which isn't good for the baby, which makes me feel worse. Overall, it's very hard to remain positive and trust that I'll find something when I'm meant to.

Hi K8. I definitely sympathize with your situation,a lot of people especially lately have found themselves unemployed. You unfortunately have a baby on the way to care for which up's the stress level a lot. If your in need of a job and don't have pride in your way try some of the places that are known to hire almost on the spot (eg. McDonalds or another fast food business, telemarketing, big departement stores ect ect) These places are not fun to work at but they have a high hiring rate don't usually require a lot of experience, and it's better than nothing. Another almost sure fire job (depending on where you live, and if you have a strong enough stomach) is CNA work. Once again depending on where you live the training is usually fast cheap and easy. Some home care agencies don't even require that you have a CNA licence. And since your pregnant this might work for you since some positions with a home care agency are sleep overnight (You usually sleep at the client's house, depending on the client help then to the bathroom during the night, then usually help them up in the morning and get breakfast ready) If none of these things are available to you or you cant get yourself to do some of them, then look at it the way a very good friend of mine did. She's a teacher and got layed off this year, she just had her baby 7 weeks ago. As far as she's concerned now she wont have to miss any of her babies big milestones now. She doesn't have to find a sitter she gets to do what she really wants to and be with her baby. This took a lot of sacrifice for her and her husband since you need to cut as many expences as possible. If you do decide to do this then you can check out a great site called www.workathomenoscams.com Look around and ask the webmaster Eddy what he thinks would be a good way for you to make a little money at home while caring for your baby,it might not be much but it helps a lot.
