We were 9 when we met, my best friend and I. We were inseparable as children, and we became the sister that the other didn't have. I did have an older sister but we were so different and coming from a split family she mostly lived with our mother. We filled and emptiness in each others lives, and even though we have grown up and created our own lives and families, living states apart, we still have contact and remain very special parts of each others lives. We now get to share stories about our children growing up. Who was your first best friend? Do you still have contact with them? Do you think of them often?

Yes I have a best friend whom I made through one of my first best friends, His brother. As we grew up, we found that I shared more in common with my first best friend's older brother, and it developed from there. we are old men now, but like you, still a very special part of each other's lives, having been through families, deaths, illnesses, and triumphs together.

I met my first best friend on my first day to school. I was 3 then. We soon became the best friends. He is still my best friend. He also says that inspite of his girlfriend, I am the best friend he had ever had. We are so close after 2 decades. I hope we stay like this forever.

I was in kindergarden and found a girl that lived 3-5 houses down from me in California. She was in my class and we were talking about learning our addresses as kidnapping was really high back then. She and I lived on the same street. Her name was Chris Lynn Kelly and I always thought that was funny. Her last name was a first name, and so was her middle name, cuz that was my moms name. She had an aligator in a tank in one of the rooms in her house and I was facinated with the fact that she had "Hello Kitty" everything! My dad and my mom separated for the first of many times and we left Mom in California to go to Ohio. I always wondered how she was doing and what she became. She was cool people!

I met my first best friend in my first year of primary school (I think the US equivalent is elementary school). She was really funny and she made me laugh a lot - especially in the situations where we were not supposed to laugh, like during storytime, assembly and later on our more structured lessons. We used to get sent out of the class quite a lot for having giggling fits, and I think that the teachers thought she was corrupting me, as I was naturally quite quiet and was the model pupil when she wasn't around!! We were very good friends through the whole of primary school and we went to same secondary (high) school. But then we began to go separate ways. She made friends with the more 'cool' people in our year group, and I began really liking some of the more serious, quieter children. So while we still saw oneanother sometimes we weren't best friends any more. Then after school we went to different universities, and our paths just crossed occasionally later still when we were both working in London, and we saw each other for a few minutes on our bus or train journeys to work. I know that she had a daughter several years ago, and she heard that I had one more recently, when she ran into my cousin. Although we know vaguely about oneanothers' lives we're not in contact any more, but I do think about her from time to time.

I moved to a different school when I was 7 years old and I met my first best friend there. On weekends we would alternately go to each other's house and play. But after one year she moved to a different city because her father's job was there. For a while we wrote each other letters and then we lost touch... i don't know where she is now but when I think of her , I have good memories. :)

I miss my first best friend so so much. I met here when we were 11…actually I was 11 and she was 12 and she had failed one class and stayed back. Now, as a child I was very shy and introvert and could not really make friends on my terms…most took advantage of my gullible and trusting nature (I was very very foolish and tried hard to please everybody, so nobody took me seriously)…but this girl was different. Maybe because she herself was shy to mix with other girls of my age as she had failed to get a promotion in her previous class…anyways, we two lost souls came together and hit it off! We were there for five years and the best time in school I had during those years. We went our own ways after school was over and tried to keep contact but it was difficult. Then she got married around 18 and we just lost ourselves in our new habitats LOL

One best I can remember the oldest, if not my first is now living and working in one of the arab countries, I think he's in dubai. What I can remember is, we were classmates in elementary school, both members of choir and of the drum and bugle corps. We were never classmates when we got to high school when he enrolled in different school, but we still meet regularly until we went in college. When we became adults, that was the time we never met for a long time. These days, we are just connected through internet.

Hi, Mylotters. Yes, I remember my first best friend and his name is Doncho. It was when I was 10 years old. We met at the school. He was in my class and we became very good friends. We played together, eat together. We even wrote our houseworks together :) He lived by the school so after school we went to his house and played with plastic soldiers and metal cars. He had a big collection of them. But when I was 14 I must go to the high school and he stayed at my old school.

I met my first real best friend when I was 11. Unfortunately, my family moved to a different part of the state I was living in at the time about a year later. However, we still saw each other as much as possible and wrote letters (yes, this was before the time of e-mail) to each other weekly. When we moved to a different state over 4,000 miles away, sadly, we started to lose contact. During this time, we both started high school and both participated in time-consuming extracurriculars. Some how or another, we lost contact all together unintentionally. Then came the dawn on MySpace, where we found each other again. Although I do not care for the way some people are completely consumed with MySpace and Facebook, I do give kudos for such social networking sites' abilities to reconnect long-lost friends.

My first best friend, yes I do remember her. I would also come over and play during the weekends. We had fun. We're no longer in contact because we've grown apart. When we started getting older, we just became really different people. I no longer liked the person she became so we ultimately found other best friends.

Of course I remember :) I met my best friend when we both were cca 3 years old, we grew up together and are still best friends - for about 20 years. Moreover, he lives in the same village as I do, very close to me :) We used to go to the same class for two years (until I have changed the school). But nowadays we don't see each other so often as we used to, just because of his work and my studies. From time to time we go together for a drink, concert or just write over icq :)

Ah, good times, good times... I met my first best friend on the first day of Kindergarden. We were both outside at our first recess, standing against the wall. I was nervous, but walked over to her anyway. I said "Hi, I'm Rachel!" She was really quiet, but said her name was Emily. So I asked her if she wanted to be my friend. She said yes, and after that we were inseperable. She switched schools in the middle of 8th grade, but our senior year we started hanging out again. We've been re-connecting, and it's like we were never separated. She's so awesome...!
