I blieve that internet is becoming the main "mass media", even though tv is still present in homes. Do you think it will totally disappear in this century?

I doubt television will disappear, too many shows, too many networks, too many jobs.

Sure, but what about tv news? I don't think in 2020 someone will watch news on television yet, the internet offers a powerful mean of information!

H claudioangione, I do believe TV will still be around but will become less popular. With broadband speeds increasing all the time, TV on demand is here and here to stay. I have found myself watching very little TV the last while because I can watch what I want when I want on the net. So you might be right we could see the humble TV disappear altogether.

I agree, and I think that news on tv will be less and less important than news on the internet.

Even if it won't disappear, I do believe that its use will be remarkably reduced!

Yes, I'm sure that TV will be gone somewhere in the future. The internet is much more practical, you can actually do things here rather than just sitting and watching. You can even get some TV shows on the internet, so . . . I'm sure that the internet will, in a way, replace Television. You can pretty much do almost everything there. Once they put TV inside the Internet we would have something very special. . .

I don't think it will disappear but maybe it will become more powerful in centuries to come. I think with our technology and the future's technology it may come a day that "t.v." will be more hi-tech or it will transform into more advanced media form. I mean as we all know there is a tivo and people now can play on "t.v. online" (like online games), maybe in the future we can do more with it and we will just be surprised how it gradually change from a tv that is black and white before to a space-like home entertainment. Happy Mylotting!

Yes, but what do you think about other tv uses? Tv shows, news, weather forecast, and so on... I think we won't watch them on tv anymore!

While the internet is ever-growing and ever-changing in the way we view the world. I don't believe it will replace T.V. T.V. is one major form of mass media in which people thrive to get messages out. While a high persentage of the population have computers, there are still a great deal that don't. And with the internet combining with television then all the more reason to keep it. Just look at the services such as youtube, and netflix that offer watching movies and digital media on your tv. And what about converter boxes where people can turn their t.v. into a computer monitor. People can still benifit way to much from television for it to dissappear.

TV vs computer - With the development of the computer, computers will be the better choice of most people and TV will be given way to computer at last.
Yes, from where I stand, the TV will disappear sooner or later. Although there are still many people who tend to spend much time on watching TV, I guess it will disappear in the coming years. With the development of the computer, more and more choose to spend more time on the Internet instead of watching TV. Compared with TV, people can get more options and features from the Internet and computer. There are many similarities between TV and computer. Obviously, both have screens. Surfing the Web for hours and hours can be easily compared to watching TV. Televisions and computers can keep people informed and convey news events in a timely manner. But for the long run, TV will be given way to computer sooner or later, which is the biggest trend in this century.
