Buying used cars?

How do you guys feel about buying used cars ranging from $5,000-10,000 dollars? Personally I feel thats good if you are buying your first car. This is just a thought, but I would like opinions on this. Has anyone bought a used car before?

I think if you are going ot put out $10K on a used car you may as well put out another $3K-$5 and get a new car.
