Well I remember that they used to say that back in the day they used to put coke in the coca cola do you think it's true?? I don't!!! I don't thinkthat coca cola can be addicting well maybe it can to those who just fall in love with it just like cigarette and alcohol. I know it is not as bad as the other things that I said but it can make you fat. It takes for ever to digest it. I think it takes more than 2 days to digest it. I know it is bad for you especially if you are diabetic because all that sugar that it has. So anyway back to the subject. Do you think coca cola is addicting? Do you think that they used to put coke in it back in the day? Is it true? Let me know what you think... Thanks happy mylotting Maria S.

Yes coca cola can be addicting because of the caffiene in it. It is the same as coffee or tea in that aspect. As for coke being in coca cola there is some truth to that. It was not coke as we know it today but was derived from the same thing that coke is made out of. It is similar to the poppy seed muffin and opium. Both come for the same place and consumed in the right quantities can have the same affects but the chance of that happening are very slim.

i agree it's the caffeine, my friend drinks 2 as soon as he gets up instead of coffee or tea, if i drink a can or 2 after 7pm i find it hard to get to sleep at a decent hour. diet coke is just plain nasty tasting, the only way i'll drink that is with the lime infused in it or i'll squeeze fresh lemon or lime in it to get rid of that nasty aftertaste, if you look at a can of coke or pepsi you;ll see 48 grams of sugar and 40 some grams 0f carbs so thats like having 90 some teaspoons of sugar in a 12 oz. can or bottle, if the caffeine dont get ya the sugar does. enjoy

Coca cola can be very addicting because I have been a victim once, I could not stay a day without taking it maybe it was because I was always around it. I fought hard to kick it and thank God I did. As for the issue on it having coke in it I don't think it is true

Yes, they did used to put coke, but now they changed the recipe. I don't find coca cola addicting. I hate all drinks with that bubbly taste. I kinda hurts my throat when I drink it. I like drinks without the fizz.

Well dear that is what you think and I can't blame you because you are not alone in that kind of thinking. I myself used to think the same too. Nevertheless, we should also know the composition of every food or drink we partake. It is not only bad for diabetic but bad for all because if you are not not yet diabetic, you will most likely end up one or if not other disease will come to you in the long run if you are a habitual cola drinker. Coca cola is a harmful mixture of phosphoric acid, sugar, caffeine, coloring, and flavoring matter perhaps you don't know. The phosphorous and phosphoric acid in your cola drinks can hurt your stomach linings, disturbs the alkaline-acid balance of your kidneys that will eventually ruin it. Of course cola drinkers love the fairly sweet taste of it not knowing or perhaps unmindful of the fact that it has a very high amount of sugar which is cleverly done to hide its acidity. Well, well, well, cola drinks has been proven to be addictive just like coffee is because it has caffeine, an addictive substance found in coffee too. Don't you notice that those who made cola drinks a habit can't stop it anymore. They keep craving for it. Anyway, it is for you to decide. Anyway that is your life. I am just concern to remind anyone who wants an opinion. Thanks for giving me the chance. Cola drink is killing you softly. You don't know it but surely it does and you have to decide if you will allow it to continue killing you little by little.

I think it can be. I have cousins who seem to drink too much of it. They hardly drink water but they have tons of cola stocked in their home. I think since it has caffeine it can be addictive.

well it depends....may be for some coke can be a real addiction...i mean i see few people who need coke every time with their meal...so for them it is just a kind of addiction only but if i speak of me...no i am not addicted to coke...ya i regularly take soft drinks but then am not specific to any one particular brand..though i like coke the most..

I think, Coca Cola does not make people become addicted, as long as he's concerned drinking patterns. What needs to be seen is a person living habits in consuming food and beverages. There was a friend of mine, who can drink 3 cups of coffee per day (morning, afternoon, and evening), a day does not drink, he could be dizzy. There's more of a friend, he always take vitamins every day, a day without these vitamins, make him feel not fit. In a way, 2 of my friends are already addicted. So, if someone could be called an addiction to drink and the food was depend from level of consumption of a beverage food product, and its impact on her body. I think, too much in food and beverage consumption is not good, even though the product is to use the word 'health drink', 'energy drinks', 'non-fat food', 'non-sugar drink', and so on. As long as that person is not excessive in consuming the product, I do not think it will make people addicted.

Hi Maria, I personally think Coca Cola might be addicting...but I know Mountain Dew is. If I have a regular Mountain Dew in the morning, 24 hours later I am craving it like crazy. I have to avoid it completely! I think I could drink a 2 liter by myself. I suppose it is all the caffeine and sugar. Coca Cola is probably less addicting only because it doesn't have as much. Anyway, that my opinion. Have a happy day! - sm

I absolutely love coke! And while it has more sugar than Diet Coke, it has less caffiene. Which to me is an Ok trade.

Hi maria. I go for the Diet Coca Cola. I don't think it is addicting. I drink it at everymeal, even breakfast. I don't drink coffee, but I drink diet coke for my caffeine fix or else I get sleepy. When I am in new place, that is the only thing I drink specially if I am unsure of the water. I drink it even before I sleep, just to quench my thirst and not get up in the middle of the night to drink something. Hehe, I guess I am addicted huh?

As stated above coke contains caffein and caffain is addictive. I should also note that, coke's real harm is not the sugar in it but the citric acid. Drinking huge amounts of coke may result in stomach problems like ulcer.

Of course, ti has a very high amount of caffeine in it, and that is very addictive, just like other drinks, such as Red Bull, coffee, tea and so on. So yeah, I do think and I even know that you can get addicted to the stuff!
