differences between fruit and vegetables

hi i have a friend who is a vegetarian and somehting about his diet is very confusing to me. i wan wondering if you could explain it to me,because i am embarrassed to ask him this question, are vegetarians allowed to eat fruit?i dunno what the differene between fruits and vegetables is. could anyone solve this riddle for me please?

hi,smallcloud! I suppose vegetarians are allowed to eat fruits.of course they can! fruits are not animal products.and since animals eat fruits,why can't we or vegetarians? some people have become vegetarians for the health problem,believing taking diets without animal protain and fat is good for their body,while the others deem that it 's unhuman to slaughter animals for food.well,I just feel it's not easy to be a vegetarian.If one were not allowed to enjoy fruits as a vegetarian,perhaps there would little enjoyment left in meals... have a nice day!

I am not sure I have never thought about it before maybe most fruits grow on trees and most vegetables grow from small plants from the ground..not sure if that is right or not.
