Population increase... due to recession?

It is obvious that the US is facing an economic recession right now and many people have commented on how the population in mylot is continuously rising. Do you think this is due to the fact more people are going online to find jobs and earn money or do you think it is just a natural occurrence.
Have you joined mylot because of the recession or are you participating and being more active now in order to try to earn a little bit extra.

I think that there are a lot of lay offs around the world and that because of this more people are trying to find online money making opportunities. I couldn't say how many out of the new members are from the USA. I do think that we all try to get a little bit extra in money with the cost of everything rising!
I am on here to earn a bit extra so as to buy things my husband and I want and not what we need.

I agree. Also, perhaps because of all the layoffs people have more time in their day so therefore they can come onto mylot and earn that little bit of extra money. I'm sure people will also be more active around the holiday because that when there starts be a little extra downtime.

Yes, People who are laid off of their jobs have a sudden jolt of not working, and I think though it make take a bit, they come on here to mylot... I know when I quit my job I enjoyed having fun all day... I still do, bu then I started mylot... I have a job lined up.
Yea there tends to be more downtime during holidays especially with jobs closed a week at a time sometimes for the holidays.

Mylot's population has been growing steadily for years. It has nothing to do with the recession. If people honestly think Mylot will help you out of recession money issues, you should start looking for a job.

It might not just be the money aspect to it, like other people have been commenting, sometimes when people don't have a job they have more time to spend on things such as mylot and have the mindset well at least I'm earning a little bit more each month. I don't think anyone here has the mindset that mylot could pay for all your necessities a month.

It maybe so obut i think population would naturally increase in time. It do think that earning in here would not supplement your monthly needs so I would still look for job that could supplement my earnings in real life. Mylot can only give so much but it cannot give you an earning that is enough for you to survive.

Of course it can't give you the amount you would make online. That is why I don't expect my earnings from mylot to go to anything besides small things I buy online. For me everything that I made over the summer I've spent on ebay for christmas gifts. And its great that it goes to PayPal because then I know my limits without digging into my actual bank account.

hi anotherxidentiy I joined mylot just before the economy
went all kerflooey and stayed because I enjoy mylotting'and sharing and caring with all mylot friends, the icingon the cake is my earnings which I use to pay my internet bill each month.
I imagine a lot of people are on mylot now because of this
horrid recession. Jobs are really scarce right now and any
job that will bring in some money will help, for sure.

You're able to pay your Internet bill with your earnings? Thats amazing. I know for me its a miracle if I'm able to just reach the $10 mark each month and most Internet bills run around $50.
Are you just using mylot and do you have a great downline on here to earn money off of too?

I don't really know the answer to that. I honestly haven't really noticed. I know that there's always new people joining but I don't know if that's due to the recession or not. But I suppose more people are trying to find ways to earn some money online and mylot is one of the more reliable ones. It's been around for ages while other sites seem to come and go really quick. I actually joined mylot a long while ago, before this recession even started, but was never too active until a few months ago. I like the fact that more people are active here because there are more interesting discussions popping up everyday.

It seems that there are an inevitable relationship between economic recession and increasing population.
With the downturn of the economics all over the world, most people have suffered the side effects of the recession. For being laid off, people have to find another ways to earn much money to meet their needs, so, more and more friends join myLot in order to earn some money here.
For me, I join myLot just for interests. Here, I can make friends with people around the world. Of course, I can earn a little bit extra money too. In fact, even if there are no economic recession right now, the population of myLot is rising everyday! Happy myLotting!

I joined myLot well over three years ago and at that time myLot was growing in numbers at a faster rate than it is now.
People join for many reasons. I landed here quite by accident but I found some VERY good friends here and have enjoyed communicating with them, sharing ideas, respectfully debating issues and just having FUN.
While I have no doubt people are joining in an effort to gain a little extra income, I hope they find the true treasure of good friendships.

Oh wow, I just noticed how many people have joined since then. It used to be close to only 100,000 people the last time i remembered the figures. To be honest, I don't know if it is directly a result of the recession. I mean, it's sort of like a site that is gaining more and more exposure. When people hear about it, they try to get their friends on it and the more people that do this the faster the population on mylot is.

As for me, i joined mylot is because i want to fill out my boring days at home, taking care of my son. Besides that, i am interested to make more friends and also gain some knowledge on online earning programmes, which i can do from home, to earn some extras from home, as well. Although the recession not really felt much from my country, but this extras income is a plus to me, to get ready for the raining days to come....So, i agreed with you that, everyone stay active in mylot is to earned some extras income through online...

You just might have a point there. I know if I had a job I would not be able to find the time to be active on Mylot everyday. So maybe more people are joining since they have all the time in the world and unemployment is up to 10.2%.

I joined mylot to earn a little extra money. But that doesn't mean that I'm just here for the money. That was my reason for joining, but once I was already here I began to enjoy mylotting. Posting on mylot is a sort of stress reliever for me. I find it highly enjoyable. And on the issue of population increase due to recession, I think that it is probably true. People are finding ways to earn money, and the Internet offers them a lot of opportunities.

I believe it is the recession that has caused the population increase. The recession is worldwide and since more people are at home because they have lost thier jobs, people are looking for other ways to make money and since online earnings have proven to be work, everyone is joining the flow. I joined because I was at home too.

I am doing it make a little extra money, but I am also doing it to make friends. I love the advice we give each other and I love the ideas we all share. I am currently out of work (unless I get to sub) and being on here helps me pass the time away. I think most people are looking for friendship. Friendship is priceless.

I joined here about 2 years ago so before the recession hit (us Aussies still deny a recession here - go figure lol)...Anyway, I joined in the hope of earning a little bit of pocket money...not only have I been able to do that but I have made some good friends here & have had some good problems (tech & otherwise) solved by fellow mylotters...I think even if mylot didn't pay, I would still be a member but the extra bit of cash that I earn here is always handy & a bonus
