Noisy and Strange Neighbours

Perhaps it is time for me to move!
I just do not understand some people's behaviour! Yesterday, I was driving out of my drive and noticed a wrecked late model car outside the house two doors down from me. It looked as though it had rolled as the roof was all crushed. But the weird thing was that there was a guy hitting the car with a hammer all over it!
Every panel was dented by the hammer and he was also smashing all the windows! There was glass all over the road! It was only a few weeks ago that his other car was outside his house totalled as it was smashed hard in the side!
Anyway later last night music was blaring from his house and would go for half an hour and then stop for half an hour. We would just be thinking that it was all over, when the sound would go up again! This went on for a few hours until around 11.30pm when my wife rang the police and they turned up 15 minutes later. It was quiet after that!
This morning as we went past, we notices that he had dragged his couches out the front of his house and had lit a bonfire in his front yard. There were parts of his fence missing too that he must have burned while he was drunk! I think he recently separated from his wife or girlfriend and it was her car that him and his friend were beating up!
He is obviously not in a positive frame of mind at the moment
, but there is no need to make the street look like a slum!
I would like to hear about your experiences with neighbours in the past or present.
Do you have strange neighbours?
Have you been a strange neighbour in the past maybe?

He is a bit of a loose unit at the moment...lOL. He is still carrying on at all hours of the night. Sunday night he was outside yelling at the top of his voice and breaking things at midnight. I saw him yesterday morning sweeping up glass off the footpath out the front of his house, he just looked at me as if he was ashamed of his actions, then put his head back down and kept sweeping.

Talk about revenge! (LOL) Not too fair on the neighbourhood though. I had neighbours who lived below me in my unit where I lived before I got married. I have spoken about these jerks in other discussions; they were very annoying, partying during the week and the last straw came when they used the punching bag attached to my balcony at four in the morning! We too called the police and it did not do much good until they eventually moved out; I wonder to this day if they were evicted because we can’t have been the only ones who complained!
As far as your charming neighbour goes, I pray that he gets over his grief and calms down or better still moves on!

Yeah, hopefully he gets over it quickly! There were definately others who were bothered by the noise as they were out the front of their homes checking it out, but whether they too called the police, I am not sure!
I can imagine that a punching bag at 4 am would be rather loud! I have been getting woken up by Kookaburras at around that time lately, perhaps I should call the police about them too...LOL

The punching bag did not make as much sound as it made the floor of my place shake as if it was an earthquake! I am so glad I live in a free standing house now!

You do have strange neighbors!! If he is renting, I'd hate to be the real estate agent turning up for a routine inspection!!
I've never lived near people like that however, I would hate to be my neighbour...I like to vacuum forst thing in the morning after I've had a shower & brekky...I normally have to wait until it's 7am so at least it's a decent hour...also, my dog loves to bark when we are playing in the back yard which drives me nuts so I can just imagine what it's like for my neighbours
Then there is my 2.5 year old daughter who likes to sing songs at the top of her voice & if she's not doing that, she's squealing in a high pitch which hurts my ears.
I hope things settle down with your neighbour

I think that the guy is the owner of the house, not sure. It did sell about a year ago and then they moved in straight after, but that does not mean he is not renting the place. I have not had much to do with him. Hopefully he will settle down!
Vacuuming at 7am is OK. I am waking up at 4.30 am at the moment as it is light, but I wait until 7am until I make noise in the house as everyone else is usually still in bed until then!
We have a barky dog too, which gets annoying at times! The sound of kids being happy is a good sound I feel. My kids can be noisy but it only gets annoying when they are fighting!

hi rawbill that is one awful neighbor for sure.we had the neighbor from hell in one apartment complex. she lived below
us and made our life perfect hell. she banged on the ceiling
ever time we even took a deep breath. she went to the manager who came to us and said the woman has said my son was making noises like a bowling ball in an alley.we figured it was his rolling desk chair.he tried putting a carpet under it. no dice.so he bought a new one. no dice, no matter what lengths my son went to the woman still complained and complained til the manager a witch of a woman gave us an eviction notice. later after we moved out we found out from the managers ex husband that the manager had put the downstairs neighbor up to this to get the apartment for a rich relative of hers.there was no noise at all ,it was all a set up, and this was the kind of thing that had made her husband decide to divorce her. a witch of a woman.

That type of corruption makes me angry!
It is such a shame that you had to live through that kind of treatment. Hopefully you are somewhere nicer now. My guy is still being noisy, he is definitely a bit out there at the moment, a bit of a loose cannon. I am trying to avoid him just in case I upset him and he takes revenge on any of my property!

Wow..that is a strange neighbor. I guess the worst experience I have had with neighbors id just one that used to be really nosy. I would see her standing in her wiindow with a pair of binoculars while I was carrying in groceries opr outside playing with my kids. Kinds creepy really. At first I just tried to tell myself that she was bird watching or something but then when I would talk to her,she would ask me questions like who was that that come over yesturday or what kind of toy was that you were playing with the kids..lol..It was a trip living near her.

Thanks for sharing, she sounds like a weird one, that's for sure!
Maybe you should have gotten some binoculars and stared back at her for a bit to see how she liked it! Or you could have gone up to her window and pressed your face against the glass until she noticed...LOL. That would have been funny!

Hi Bill, definitely time to move as that type attracts the same type and pretty soon all your neighbours will be fighting on the doorsteps every night. I'm impressed with the Australian police response time though, 15 minutes is good. Back in the UK I once phoned them, well not the Australian ones obviously but the local ones, due to blaring music from nearby well after midnight and rather unsavoury types leaving the house of said blaring music and doing suspicious things around parked cars. I was told the earliest response time would be 7 hours! Presumably they'd all be sleeping it off by then.

Well you could hardly have expected him to fall drunk out of his own car, hence the taxi, as he's already smashed the cars up.
The one time I've known the police be called out here to a complaint they were very quick. The taverna and a neighbour had an ongoing fued going and as it was hot the taverna put some tables outside. The neighbours called the police to the taverna with the complaint that another neighbour was sitting in the taverna and talking too loudly. He wasn't arrested but no doubt whoever the policeman wasn't related to got short shrift. At least the taverna escaped and the tables remained.

Well that sounds like an interesting time too! My fabulous neighbour was sleeping in his driveway this morning apparently. If he keeps this up, I will have enough stuff to keep this discussison going for months...LOL

Hi Thea, thanks for sharing!
The police here are not always that quick here. We were surprised that they responded that fast as the police station in our town does not operate at night. Our town and a nearby one are patrolled by one car at night which is really bad! If something happens in the other town and the police are in our town doing something, then it might take ages for them to respond!
The weird neighbour stepped out in front of my car yesterday. I nearly ran him over! He hopped out of a taxi and just walked straight out from in front of it to cross the road without even looking! He did not even look at me when I slammed on the brakes!
