How Has Your Christmas Been Impacted?

The unofficial shopping season is just around the corner and there is a lot of talk about how companies aren't producing a huge amount of certain items anymore because they feel like the demand isn't there. Also there has been talk that when Black Friday comes around and other big discount times the discounts aren't going to be the 70% or so that we've seen before but maybe just 40%. Being a consumer I wish the discounts would be more in my favor but I know I'm not going to be spending as much on Christmas as I did last year and the year before that. How has the economy affected your Christmas spending and what are ways that you're using to still be able to give everyone gifts but just at a lower cost.

I will not be spending as much money as I have in the past. At the same time I will looking for deeper discounts not less discounts. The less discount the less I will spend. So I guess we are all in for a rude awakening this Christmas time. I will be going out on Black Friday but if those discounts aren't there the money will stay in my pocket. I can wait until the discounts get deep enough that I can afford to purchase.

Christmas will be tight for my husband and I this year since he is working part-time and I have been unable to seek employment. I had been able to save some money from selling things and once in a while I am lucky enough to be able to substitute teach. I am also making a lot of home made gifts such as painting ceramic houses, a ceramic santa claus with a sled and ceramic ornaments. I will also be putting together a gift baskets full of goodies such as cookies, fudge and candy. I am hoping to make a little extra money so I can buy my husband a few things for Christmas. I know the cats want to get their dad a gift (the cats always do that). I had already bought my niece and nephews books which I had gotten at a great savings.

Books are one of those things you can get at great prices especially on Amazon. I know for many of my books I can get them for under $5 including Christmas. Plus making gifts is always a great way to go, especially if you know how to.

Actually, I think I am going to be able to do a little bit better this year. Last year, I was really struggling and nervous because things didn't work out quite the way that I had planned. This year, I managed to increase my residuals and get everything rented that was on the market. Therefore, my income should be a bit better. I am hoping that things will keep building for me online. The residuals aren't quite where I expected them to be by the end of the year, but like I said they do keep building. So, maybe next year will be even bigger.

That's great. I know there is talk that perhaps we are slowly coming out of the recession and I hope that is true. It starts the get a little depressing whenever you turn on the news and hear about how high the unemployment rate is especially knowing that I'm graduating next year and hopefully I'll actually be able to go straight into the field that I want to and not have to settle for second best.

our christmas is definitely going to be impacted by the economy. we have cut way back in the past few years and need to cut back even more this year. we are in bad shape right now so i am not sure if i can even food shop for the things we usually prepare on christmas eve. i will just make do with what we have and make it as festive as i can. it will take some creativity but the most important thing is being with the ones you love anyway.

I have earnt alot of commission in a club book that i run so i intend to use that to get some of my Christmas presents,as for the sales and the discounts i tend not to worry as i tend to get things in the sales as i need them threw out the year, rather than the mad rush straight after Christmas.

this year I'm spending my first xmas away from my family. It's lonely when my boyfriend doesn't even care about xmas. He thinks it's just another holiday to spend money on.

This will the first Christmas my husband and I will be able to spend freely. That being said, We won't really know the impact of the dollar on the item unless it's something we have been looking for / forward to getting for awhile. Also, video games are one thing we both know a bit about with my husband knowing more about it! In any case, with that being said we are still mylotting and trying to get amazon giftcards so as to be able to spend on others!
