My 17 year old son has been diagnosed with ADD, and the only thing that is working for him is Vyvanse. It is new, but this was a kid who was getting C's and D's on report cards, and now we have A's and B's. He even says it works for him.

Hi Rhodak, i have two special kids (within the autism spectrum) and they're both doing good in school. the youngest is in his first year of the mainstreaming program and the eldest is still in the special education program. we never have any experience having them undergo medication that's why i want to know more about what you are sharing on VYVANSE tha work for your kids... and what did not work? please enlighten me. thanks!

My 17 year old child was diagnosed with ADD in 2nd grade and we have tried Adderall, Stratara, and Ritalin. None have worked. We always thought it was just him, you know, not trying and such, but about 6 months ago he got on Vyvanse, and I just to a progress report from him that that all A's and B's. I can't understand the difference, but he says it really works for him. Since he is older that helps that he can tell me what is working or not. Remember that is he 17 and can tell me what "feels right" to him or not. I am so proud of his good grades......they are the best we have ever seen!!!!! Don't give up and keep on asking your Dr. if this medicine is right for your boys. My child is not hyperactive. That may make a difference. Thanks for answering me....I just want to get the word out.

I am sorry but I am not understanding the relevance of the title. You say that this "Vyvanse" is working. So, what is it that "did not work"

Let's see, Adderall, Ritalin, and another one I don't remember. This is the first one that has had ANY RESULTS at all. I have been dealing with this since he was 8 years old. I will take the results I am getting now. I was just trying to give advice or hope for some other people who have the same problem

This is interesting. Something that is New and probably yet unproven is what is working the Best for your son to where he is finally able to cope with things in life and get Good grades, etc. You never know. We need to remember as well as Doctors especially not everything out there will work for everyone. That is why there is always new stuff to choose from coming out on the markets everyday as well.

My daughter took Concerta, along with a pharmacy full of pills from the time she was 4 years old. Now, she's off of everything. It was a choice her and I made together. She deals with the issues that arise and most of her issues come from her autism and not her ADHD. But, I know the feeling of finding something that works and makes like better for the one with the condition.
