We are 10 million times bigger than these creatures but one way or the other they manage to scare us with their looks and uncanny behaviour. Not only that, they're one of the dirtiest insect ever existed in the face of this planet. Some said that these pests lived since the ice age and some people predictd that they are the only living organism that can survive a nuclear war. But why do they still gives us creeps even if we know that we can smash them with our footwear or anything that we use in killing these ugly looking creatures? Also even if we know that they're also scared of us.

i think its the "dirty" part that gives us the creeps.. specially when they start crawling on you, and even worse when you're asleep and they give you a bite.. ouch!

That is right repzkoopz. They have weird legs which makes it irritating when it crawls on the skin. They have strange body fluids, so I don't like to squish them.

Hello, Good evening, WHY DOES COCKROACHES GIVES US THE CREEPS? Because they are dirty. In the Philippines they are only ordinary. I remember my balikbayan uncle, whose wife is an American. They came to the Philippines for a vacation and of course to visit his family. You know his American wife is always shouting because of this insects roaming around our houses. And we're kidding her, telling her , "OH, that's only ordinary here, have you seen rats around?" In a tropical country it is only ordinary especially now , our surroundings are dirty. So make our surroundings free from garbage, not only garbage, make it clean so that their will be less insects like them.

This is a question, which is one of the eternal mystries. I also hate that insect, and I usually kill one, if I see it. If I see one in the night, and if I am not able to kill it, I cannot even sleep properly. I have such an aversion towards cockroaches.

Have you watched that Pixar Disney movie where this robot lives in the planet earth alone with a cockroach? Oh yes! Wall-e! Imagine all those damage and a single cockroach survived? Haha. Well most of my friends freak out when they see a cockroach, they either run away or ask someone to kill it. What made them even scared is that they believe that cockroaches are now evolving, they are now able to fly, and they wouldn't die in a single stomp. They also believed that in the future, it'll be like crocodiles. My friends are about to go to college, weird huh?

Nice discussion you got here, I'm one of those afraid of cockroaches, especially those flying ones. Well, the thing is that they look different from us, just like other people who are different, others avoid them or get scared when they are approached, people even though we are all human beings tend to accept things that are most common to our community. In the cases of cockroaches they look scary than those other insects or animals, and we know that they carry a lot of diseases.

Well, let's use a bit of evolutionary thought on this. Cockroaches are pretty dirty beings that carry diseases. These diseases can be passed onto humans if they get into contact with them. Therefore, humans that have fear of cockroaches will avoid contact with them and so avoid diseases. Result: humans that are afraid of cockroaches should be expected to have the highest frequency on the human population.

I think they are just creepy to look at but I don't think they can do any harm! That's the funny thing about our world, there are so many strange creatures and they all have their proper place I suppose. I suppose they are found in particular areas but I have never physically seen a cockroach and I hope I never come across one! Andrew

Cockroaches are creatures I am most scared and most hating. I just hate the look of it... Even If i see it running on the floor, I run away. When some flies, I make my house like war house. I scream and mess up the things... I have no idea, why I am scared of it like that. I know I am 100 times bigger than the dirty creature, but still I am scared of it and hate it a lot... I have been told by mum that, if u have the jaudice, and u eat cockroaches, you get cured... I have no idea if it's TRUE or not..By any chance I got jaudice, I'd rather die than eating that creature to keep me alive There's this site sells pets online.. You can even adopt these creatures as your pets.. cockroaches, centipede, milipedes ,scorpions etc.. Dirty Creatures for sale :http://www.exotic-pets.co.uk/cockroaches-for-sale.html

I don't really know why they give me the creeps. A lot of insects give me the creeps. I don't much like cockroaches that much. I'm lucky I don't live in Indonesia. I heard they have cockroaches that can fly. lol.

I think primarily it's because they're dirty and second to that, it's the way they look. Well, that's how it is for me.

I think the fact that they are nasty ugly and creepy is why we don't like them. And just thinking about roaches makes my skin crawl.... :/
