What does your church do for the holiday

I teach sunday school at my church. In the morning we are going to get started early and make up some Thanksgiving goody bags for 25 people in a local nursing home. We are having the kids put the items together and we hand made some greeting cards and daily scripture books. The 25 people have no family no friends and never have a visitor. How sad is that! I think it is very important to teach the kids not only that we should help others as the Bible tells us but we should generally love our neighbor, Care about people in general, I am really hoping this will touch the kids hearts and help them with the lesson Love thy God with all thy heart and Love thy neighbor as thy self. What do you all think, What do other churches do for the holidays or other parts of the year to give the children a hands on lesson?

Well, for us, there are parties and fund raisers for the poor and needy. There arent any activities that kids can participate in, other than the choir which really has limited intakes to begin with. That's pretty much it.
