I don't understand how a homeless person can have a car, cell phone and get their nails done once a week. I don't have much money as I live on a small buget and do have a cell phone but I can't purchase a car ( gas money ) get my nails done every week or move from apartment to apartment. Is there a secret to this?

sometimes life just throws you a curve ball. we have a vehicle and a cell phone.....even a laptop, but, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have found ourselves without a home. it doesn't mean we'll be getting our nails or hair done anytime soon. that would just be selfish, in my opinion. until we can get the money together and find a place, we are forced to go from place to place. we're hoping it'll only last a few weeks, but we don't know for sure. we're lucky that we'll be able to stay where we can get internet, but we don't know how long that'll last either. it's a frustrating thing, especially around this time of yea.

I understand what you mean. I only asked because I saw a tv program with homeless people. They did not have a home but they seem to have everything else. I know life does throw curve balls. I know I am happy I have a place to stay for now because some people don't. But while that is true they have things I could never buy because then I could not pay rent. I have a old beat up tv, no smart phone , no fancy computer, can't get my hair or nails done at all. All of my clothes are old but clean. If I am not careful I could be out. I will be glad when the day comes when no one will be without a home. Thanks for your comment and not judging me because I posed a question.

No problem. I know how difficult it can be just to survive in these times. What can make it more difficult is having kids who depend on you. I worry every day about my children and hope that sometime soon we'll be able to get a place of our own.

Well this too may be true. I was just trying to figure out. You have to have the apartment and not though extras or have the extras and not the apartment. hmmmmmmm

well now vwilliams55 maybe she had had the cellphone long before she lost her job ,could not pay her rent so was evicted,you do not know know just what her past was nor do I. I do know that a lot of people have been knocked for a loop in this bad economy and yes she also might have had the car long before things went bad for her, and evidently she like think that they cannot do without having their nails done. what i am trying to say is judge not as you do not know her story, just what you can see. and another thing if she is homeless probably she is clear out of money too. having your nails done is not as expensive as paying rent for an apartment for 1400 dollars for just one blasted apartment. also she might have a car but I would bet you she is not driving far. there are a lot of people who are now homeless who are not looneys or addicts or drunk, they just hit the big troubles, getting laid off and being evicted from your apartment.
Look you do have an apartment or house and you are working and your bills are paid. she might have a little money left but not enought for the humongous rent plus first and last rent and security deposit which can round up to 2000 dollars or more.also if she is homeless she is out of work and c annot come up with the credentials to rent another house or apartment. if she could move from apartment to apartment then she was still working, but if she is homeless its because she is just running on fumes. been there, done that and no its horrible.do not judge her since you do not know w hy she is doing whatever she is doing. would you like here judging you without knowing your story at all?

I was thinking and I figured if I came up my apartment and with the rent money , I could get my hair and nails done. I may even be able to buy a cheap car. I would be able to buy more clothes for my kids. Nope I am the last to judge. You should not judge me. No where in my comment did I say these people are bad. My rent is so high and I don't know why it just keep getting so much higher. I know the economic is bad but when you rent I thought it was only suppose to go up so much. If these people can do this if anything , they are better than I am. So don't you be so quick to judge.
