Does God exist?

Although I am a Buddhist, I tend to adopt the 'watchmaker' argument. For those of you that are not familiar with this notion, it states that like an expensive Swiss watch was made by an experienced watchmaker, the complexities of the world as a machine like system must also have been created by a designer. Now, many of you maybe aware that this argument has been refuted and some argue that it hasn't. But if we put that aside, what are you're personal predispositions regarding this fundamental question pertaining to our existence? Personally, being of the Buddhist faith, I believe in a number of different Gods, as opposed to a single all mighty God. Likewise, the God's I believe in were reborn as a God as a consequence of their accumulated good Karma. In other words, they were humans just like us, and have gone through rebirth after rebirth and their good deeds have culminated into them being Gods, and they are not infallible, they too do pass away and are then again reborn as maybe an animal, human, ghost, demon etc according to their Karma. So, for me, yes God does exist, but not as am all mighty individual that is looking over everyone single one of us, and although Buddhism rejects the 'watchmaker' argument I tend to believe in it. Although I also subscribe to Darwin's evolution, if we keep jumping back in time, there must have been a beginning where some individual must have created the world and life. So what do you think? Does God exist? But, more importantly, was he the 'watchmaker'?

Hi,Lankan,There is nothing to worry,God is not there definitely, and all these rules and regulation now we are adopting were planned by our elders. If we say directly this is good and this is bad,no body hear, but you say under the cover of God,every body fear.So let the concept of God remain for better society. If God is there is there which God we have to trust.Does God knows all languages..all the human kind..why there wasn't be single name for God for entire creation. Have a nice time. This is my opinion only, not heart to any body.

Thats true Baluyadav, I guess at some point in one's life you do realise that yes God isn't always looking over you, but in general, do you think God or a 'watchmaker' created our universe? In my opinion there must have been some all powerful being that planned and designed our earth, animals, humans, etc because I just can't comprehend how all of these complex systems could just evolve out over time.
