my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's two years ago at the age of 60 after his retirement. he was then given medicines to prolong the growth of the Alzheimer's yet we were informed that there was no cure for it. now, he was advised to stop his medication because it has already progressed. i am prepared for whatever will happen with my dad like forgetting me as well, yet still very painful to think about it for now. however, i am still hoping and praying that soon there will be cure for this kind of disease. i have heard that in New Zealand they have this thing being injected, well, that came from the snakes they said and it cures the brain clots. do you have any idea? or have you heard of any news how to treat it? or new feedback about Alzheimer's? please help..

that is very sad. it can be slowed down by various means but so far there is no actual cure and 60 is so young to get it. however there is a lot of research going into it so new treatments may well be developed in the next few years - i hope so.

I once read a book about how the nutrition affects our brain and that Alzheimers Disease and many other brain problems come from lack of right nutrition. The book was written by Dr Joaquin Gonzales Aragón. He writes that one of the causes to Alzheimer is lack of Omega3 fats in the brain. More than half of the brain consists of fats and it is important that we eat right kind of fats to feed our brain and rest of the body. I did a search and found a lot of information in Spanish, but here is a link in English - http://www.martensgnld.com/gnld_health_professionals_council - he is one of the doctors on this site. Omega3 is in cold water fish and he recommends three or four fish meals a week and plenty of fruits and vegetables and cold pressed vegetable oils. This kind of food is good for everybody, by the way..

No there is no cure. I'm sure there are plenty of trial experiments going on but as of now there is no cure. I'm sure that if the doctors decided everything had been done that, unfortunately, everything has been done.
