What kills you?

Many television programs and magazines are promoting good dietary practice for a better health. What just kills me is, it is suggesting in every way that I should stop eating the very food that makes me alive (i'm exaggerating). Dried Fish with tomatoes and vinegar coupled with rice, for me, is the best food in the whole wide world. It makes me happy, it comforts me, and somehow maybe defines me. LOL. So what is that food that you can't live without, the one that kills you if it's not there?

If you listen to those people long enough, you wonder what it is that they eat. Every couple of years it's something else. When I was a kid pork was the no, no. Now it's beef and pork is now okay. One year they promoted peanuts, the very next year everyone is allergic to them. Can't eat fish because fo the mercury, now you need the fish oil. And you can get that in many ways. (what about the mercury?) I like a good steak, haven't had a good one since my dad worked at the packing plant when I was a kid. Meat, has no flavor these days. Unless you add it then you have to be carefull with the spices. I eat what I want, I don't pay attention to them anymore.

milfea hi fish is supposed to be good for you and some rice should not hurt and tomatoes are a great veggie with lots 'of vitamins and flavor. so I would not listen to whoever says that is a no no as its very healthy fare. I cannot eat rice as it shoot my blood sugar way way up, but people without diabetes rice is a good food.Tomatoes I used to use all the time when I was not here at Gold crest,so yes I do miss them, and I had chili often too. I miss beans as they are so good for you and can be made into so many good dishes. so yes chili con carne and spaghetti and meatballs, and pizza those are the thing I a te all the time when i cooked for my self., we have them occasionally but not as often as I would like.

hey hatley. dried fish has so much salt that's why it is not good. and it makes one eat a lot of rice, which would make one get so much starch. moderation of this combination might just be alright. :). wish you good food and good health. thanks for dropping by. :)
