hi abhishek! it depends with your goal, if your goal is to lose some weigth, just eat small light meal (oat/egg) but if your goal is to build some muscles you need to have pre-workout and post workout supplements, for pre-workout nitric-oxide (complex creatine, taurine and etc.) for post 100% gold standard whey protien or hyrdro whey, for rest & recovery (bedtime) casein protien and glutamine...

not really harmful in a long run cause you burn them anyway, the only thing i know whey protien is harmful if your are lactose intolerance but there different types of whey for different body needs, you must select the best type of whey protien that suits your body, ok here's sneak peak of types of whey protien and other source of protien, WHEY CONCENTRATE-most basic(beginner) and inexpensive whey protien but sometimes hard to disseminate in your body and wit feeling of little gassy and bloated, WHEY ISOLATES-one of fast absorbing protien best for post workout but its a little bit more expensive and also best when your are in low carbs diet compare to the first one, HYDROLYSATE WHEY PROTIEN-most expensive whey protien and highly absorbable peptides that can have a great anabolic effect, CASEIN PROTIEN-slow profile in breaking down its protien best before bedtime when your muscle is resting and recovering and your body will stay anabolic throughout the nigth and other choices of protien is SOY PROTIEN, MILK PROTIEN ISOLATE and ofcourse EGG ALBUMIN
