For A Good Cause

There are many good causes throughout the world, some can be contributed to online while others can only be contributed to offline. Did you know that there are causes right here on mylot? After all we're all a community of people from all around the world, each here for different reasons, seeking help, advice, fun, chatter, or just money. With that being said, one cause here that we tend to overlook is the "clean up mylot" cause. Everyone of us as members can help to clean up mylot by reporting violators, by reporting repeated discussions, by helping the newer member so they don't make repeated discussions, or too short of a discussion, or REFERRAL LINKS discussions. So tell me have you done your part to clean up mylot? After reading this will you step in and do your part? We as mylotters need to step up and clean up this place! Afterall it's our content going in, and we should be proud of what's here, not cringing because another bad discussion has been started... SO... Have you signed up yet?

Afternoon cowgirl, I have been here for a months now and although I haven't seen that many I do know that I have seen a few discussions started that are repeats and also a bunch of referral links discussions. I try to help by reporting the bad discussions but I also sometimes feel like I am still new here and don't want to be stepping on any ones toes with that. I hate coming on here though and seeing about 40 different discussions on how this site made the person a billion and one dollars and how we should all sign up for it because they feel sorry for us because we are on here only making a few dollars so they are willing to share the secret...well believe you me that if I found a site that paid me a billion and one dollars than I would be too busy spending that money to be on another website sharing how to make it rich.....

New member or old member it doesn't matter, we're encouraged to help mylot by reporting discussions, so don't feel bad. Afterall, they won't know if you reported them! In any case, yes those discussions stating they made bunches of money etc are just silly. I agree, if I made that much elsewhere I wouldn't be online making money, I'd be shopping online or out in the stores! Most likely buying a home and two cars first though!

Yes, I have reported some discussions and responses as either repeat discussions or copy and paste responses or just complete garbage, such as when they only type of bunch of jumbled letters that do not mean anything. As I become more familiar with myLot and its rules, I am also trying to help newer users learn and understand the rules. Just today, I corrected one newer user that was giving another newer user bad advice, and I included a link to the guidelines and suggested that they read and become familiar with them. This is much easier to do now that I myself have earned the right to copy add paste, because before it was a lot more difficult to include a link in my response.

I'm not sure where you would go to join this cause? But it sounds like a pretty neat idea. I get aggravated when I go into the no responses section and I see the same discussion on each page, or at least listed a couple of times. It seems pretty illogical to me that someone would have to copy other people's or even start their own discussions over and over. myLot is very lenient in the discussions, and leaves plenty of room for even those that aren't that creative (like me). However, I am glad to hear that it is possible to report these users and discussions. By the way, I like your screen name! Thanks for sharing, and have a great day!

kykidd, I am sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. I hope you don't mind! In any case, I think some of the "repeats" on the no discussion page is not necessarily repeated by the discussion starter but just that it somehow falls on two pages. I guess people are always creating discussions and all newly made discussions go to the "no response" category until they are responded to, so in that sense the "no response" category is always moving down.

I hate the referrals links discussions - that one really gets up my nose. I honestly do not remember if a discussion has been repeated or not. I just don't remember so may be guilty of that one too. I have noticed that when I post someone (the same person) posts something very similar to mine.I don't now the reason for this at all.

Oh I know I've repated discussions in the past, I think I've even repeated a discussion I've made... but I think we all make that mistake... Now, Referral Links annoy me! I have been trying to help those who write such short thoughts on a discussion! Hmm, I believe you've told me about this. Seems to be this person should be reported! It's great to be idolized, but it can only go so far! lol!

I haven't been on mylot that long. I was guilty of not completing reading the FAQ's at first. I would just quickly go over them and get the ideal of what the site was about. The biggest way that I learned how to operate the site was by reading the responses on subjects. I think if the new members would just take a moment and read what others have written they would learn alot about the site. Just like this discussion, they would see just how much repeated discussions are being done here. Great discussions and have a nice week. Keep Smiling.

Sorry it's taken two weeks for me to get back to you. Another clean up thing I need to do myself is comments, though I should eat my own words too... I've neglected to help mylot but helping newer members. Yes, we can all a lot just by reading responses, often times if a discussion is repeated I will respond to it and give advice too, and I think many others do the same.

I have tried to help new members with issues on mylot. A lot of them seem to sign up without even reading the FAQs. In turn, they come over here, post stuff and get their discussions removed. Have I reported? Yes, on a few occasions, I have. I really think people should start reading the FAQ. Maybe if the members got banned for posting multiple things that aren't allowed, then we'd see a lot less of that here.

A lot of the new members seem to get fed up and leave, they think they are being wronged, or if they don't think that they just don't know what to say, etc. I think that if people were to be banned it'd make mylot a lot less populated, but a lot of people would be very sore! loL!
