Frustration of calling in to make a doctor's appointment...

My day's only started and I'm already a bit frustrated. It's definitely not how I wanted to start off today. But I was calling in to set up a doctor's appointment for my mom because it was her annual exam or whatever. I called up the number given on the paper and had to wait because the line was busy. After around 10 minutes someone finally answered, asked a few questions and told me that they would transfer me to another department so I ended up waiting for 5 or so more minutes. I ended up getting transfered two more times after this making me wait a lot longer. By the time I got my appointment in I was a bit annoyed. This seems to happen every time I call in.

To avoid being frustrated while waiting for an answer, why not plan/visit your doctor personally to set an appointment if you are within the vicinity. Or text your doctor 2-3 days before your check-up. Laughter is considered one of the best medicine to your physical health.

Oh, I don't mind waiting the few days. It's the whole transferring to different departments that gets to me. It's happened when I've gone in person too. I'd go in to make the appointment and get told to go to another section. Then when I go to the given place I'm told that I need to go to another building or something like that.

So sorry with your situation. I thought transferring from one department to another just happen in government agencies not in medical situation particularly in private doctors. Yes I agree, it will drive you nuts/angry for those people who should be accommodating because you are paying for their services.

Hi! Yes, this does sound quite a bit annoying. Most of the time if you sit in a doctors office long enough you will find that they are doing nothing more than talking to co workers and not doing their jobs. When i start to get the run around, as i call it, i let the person on the other end of the phone know real quick that i will not hold, wait, or be transferred.

Yep, I've observed that too while sitting in the doctor's office...I wish I could do that when I'm on the phone but there isn't an actual person to complain it. I get to sit there and listen to some corny music with this monotone voice saying, "There are no available visit coordinators at the moment. Please wait on the line for the next available person." every few minutes. I just want to hang up some times. But if I do that I know I'll have to wait just as long when I call again.

That would drive me nuts. Here the dr's office seems sooo busy - everytime you call in they are "all booked up to the end of the month and theres no schedule for next month call back at the end of the month" if you call a week before hand they are suddenly all booked up for the next month too. Drives me wild!

Yeah, it's like that here too. That and they tell you to try and call at certain times but when you do you're given the same response. It's somewhat of a hassle.

Those would actually be good suggestions if I enjoyed Facebook or text messaging people. But I should probably keep that in mind...it does beat sitting around with nothing to do waiting for my call to get through. Thanks for responding.
