truck driving is more thanjust sitting and following a map. driving a diesel truck takes experience and lots of concentration, you have to watch the road as well as the other drivers, you also need to know your gears. not evry truck has the same number of gears and if you are driver, how do you recognize the differences among them??

Well kinda hard to explain. It's the ratio in the gears. A transmission will have 9 speeds and the they put a two speed in the rear axle, thus it becomes a 18 speed trans. or gives you the selection of 18 speeds! This is only used for very heavy loads and in Mountain driving, the power range of a diesel engine is narrow and rpm's have to be keep in this range, in order to do so you need all these gears! tdemex
