Spreading of HIV AIDS: Be Cautious!

India
November 17, 2009 1:55am CST
Recently I received an email in my inbox, a woman in a cinema hall just went over in her sit. As she sat she felt something pinching at her back. As she stood up and looked in her sit she found a needle along with a note written, "Welcome to the HIV family." Same another incident happened in some other place. A couple about to get married in the next few months. They went into the movie hall and took their place. The girl felt the same pinch in her back as she sat. Got up and found a needle along with a note written, "Congratulations! You've just been infected by HIV." This is what is happening in the public places all over the world. Don't you think the people who do this kind of job should be searched by the police and get strictly punished??

Welcome to myLot priyankabhowmick! This is what we call an urban legend hoax. This did not happen so there is nobody to punish. When you get an email like that you can go to a site called Snopes and check its veracity: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/pinprick.asp

I heard this rumor years ago and it's proven to be a prank. I don't see why somebody can be that evil transferring HIV virus to other with mass infection like that. I think this rumor must be shut out cause it made the infected people even hurt even more. Having an AIDS has already been labeled with bad stigma in the society, why should bring more pain to these people?

I've never heard of such a thing and you say it is happening all over the world. I presume your source is more than an email?

Nope, her source couldn't be more than an e-mail because snopes.com has debunked it, and debunked it many years ago. I got that same e-mail a couple of years ago.

This is an 'Urban Myth'. This story has been told 1000 different ways. A man was at a club, and felt a pinch on the dance floor and found a note in his pocket. Simple fear mongering.

It is very much against the law here to deliberately try and infect someone with AIDS. The problem is finding the guilty person who did this despicable act. One has to be so careful nowadays, but there are idiots like that everywhere. We have to especially careful at the beachas needles can be hidden in the sand.

I wouldnt really say they are doing a job. But yes, i do think that they should be punished. Its just a hateful and mean thing they are doing. Why should they infect everyone just because they were not carefull??? Makes me so glad i havent been to the movies ina long time. It will be awhile before i go again too.

why do you equate having HIV with being careless?

My friend told me this and I thought it was really sad to know that people go out of their way to hut others when they contacted the disease by their own carelessness.I agree with you that these persons should be hunted down and severely punished even killed because they are intentionally killing others. I only have one issue with this and that is the fact that we were told that teh aids virus cannot survive outside the body and such if that is right then this is not a viable way to transmit the virus
@Galena (9110)

that's really sad that you think people who have HIV got it through carelessness. there are cases where this is true, but there are also very very many where people have contracted it through no action they could prevent.

I have not heard of these things happening and I do not believe all of the things that I read in emails either. If this is true, then it is an incredibly horrible thing to do to people and they deserve to be locked for the rest of their lives, the people doing it!

I just checked it out and apparently the email is a hoax that has been going around for some time. There are lots of variants such as needles being taped to petrol pump handles as well!

I had heard of similar incidents before. It would be nice and easy to say 'Hey it ain't real!'..But as it is that we live in a world where people who don't know you will try to crash your computer just for the giggle of it, I tend to hold sway on outright rejecting such actions..And were the rumors true, then the big question is whether the HIV virus was truly present in the needle/syringe or if it were a mindless prank.. Get punished for it?..If it does occur, it obviously gets done without detection, so how is one to be caught to be punished? Enjoy!

it's very easy to say it's not real. Snopes.com research these things, and see if there are any incidents recorded of such things being true or not. 9 times out of 10. not true. this one checks out as a hoax. as does the lead in lipstick and don't re use plastic bottles e mail.

WOW !!!! How did I not hear about this??? Unbelievable what people will do. I pray its just a hoax.(even though one of these needles could break off inside a persons back and cause even more problems) How terrible what if a child sat on one of these needles. The culprit or culprits need to be punished without a doubt. The police need to start with every pharmacy and check who gets syringes, and yes investigate everyone. There isn't a diabetic I know that would object knowing why the police where involved and what the investigation was about. How terrible. And people think I'm over cautious. obviously not enough. wow

why would it be any worse if it was a child? does your life become less valuable when you reach adulthood?

Not by any means but when you speaking of smaller children all they know is they hurt. They aren't gonna say it pinched, stabbed etc.. Others may not sit on it just find it and start playing with it...etc...

Emails like this one should not be taken seriously. They are obviously spam. I think it would have been more fitting if you'd asked whether others have received these emails and what they think about it.

I heard something like that in my country. That is terrible. but the result sounds like that it will not impact. I konow a few about HIV, I hope they will not impacted in a final result. This should be awared by everyone who is going to the cinema or some other dark place, try to confirm there is nothing abnormal befoe they sit down. Don't expect the police can stop this, be care by yourself is always helpful.

I'm also heard it I think HIV is not that easily spread to other people only by needle injury unlike Hepatitis that is more contagious because the virus can survive for a month. We need to be careful about it because HIV is dangerous and alarming illness. There's post exposure vaccine for this so if ever you suspected that the needle is effected you need to be check by the doctor.
