Investing in buying property is a good proposition and it is not a bad idea per se. You can buy plots, wherever available within your budget. You can get the plots financed through any bank and can repay the installments in the next 10-15-20 years. You can also buy shares of blue chip companies.

somehow yes but i am so strict as it relates to withdrawing it. we need to explore everything first and the least that we can resort to is the savings from the bank. thanks god it's not happening yet. i am very strict too with budgeting.

Did you know that though lots are a good investment, it shouldn't be the priority? Well, you see, should you need money, you cannot convert your lots into cash instantly. Let's say there was an emergency, like medical or health, yes you may have a 10M worth of lot, but you can't find a buyer that instant. I'd suggest you should have both liquid investments and long-term ones. Liquid investments are those investments that could be easily converted to cash. One good example is the money in bank (though they don't have much interest to let it grow, in case you need the money - you have it right there) next, there should be a portion where they're semi-liquid but could also be converted instantly like marketable securities, this includes treasury bills, notes, bonds, mutual funds etc. and lastly, there should be something like estates. I for one have the liquid ones for now, I am gearing into saving up enough for emergency funds. One of my other sources that I save is my mylot income or earning. In case there's a need, and the currency rates are favorable, that's the time when I'll withdraw money from my mylot. So for now, I'm doing liquid investments. Afterwhich, I'd be glad to go for estates. By the way, don't forget about the estate taxes your kids would need to pay, if you don't settle the fund for that right now, your kids would end up paying more taxes before they'd enjoy the property you're giving them. Good luck!
