Writing & Twitter

Twitter Profile ScreenShot - This is a screen shot of my profile page at Twitter - don't get too used to it though I'm known to change my background (this one is autumn colors & pumpkins)with the season or as the mood hits me.

Know it's been ages since I've been around myLot - miss my friends greatly but have been keeping in touch with many on Associated Content, Facebook, and my latest pass-time Twitter. It's amazing how different systems or programs can cause a need to adjust writing styles - for example on Associated Content they are looking for articles 400 words or more yet on Twitter you are limited to 140 characters. myLot content is in the middle:) One of the greatest features of Twitter is you are free to share links - yes folks you can promote:) I've found it a great way to share links to my Associated Content articles, slideshows, and videos and since joining Twitter have seen my pay per views more than double. If you don't know about Twitter it's a dynamic social network, free to join, and great fun. If your a member of Twitter already would love to have you follow me - same user name as here on myLot. Are you a member of Twitter? Has it been a good experience for you? If not a member what's stopping you? I'll be posting a link to this discussion on Twitter:) Do you find it interesting to write for different systems?

I was a member of twitter but was using url shortening sites that make you money and I got banned on twitter. I was waiting for them to fix it as I talked to them about it but as far as I know they never did. Recently I've thought about opening another and not bothering to check if my other one is still up or not. I'm trying to create a blog, but now that I'm starting to go through the process of a job I may not have time!

I love twitter I got into it a few months back and go there almost everyday. Haven't posted a hole lot on there but I do like to see what the people I am following are up to. I will try to track you down on there. As far as writing goes I used to be a member of a forum boosting site but don't go there at all anymore. Pretty much just stick to mylot. Good to see you again!

I keep thinking about Twitter, but haven't brought myself to join yet. At first I thought it sounded silly, but I'm slowly getting used to it. One of these days, I'll do it. When I do, I'll look you up. I do find it interesting to write for different formats and types of web sites. I write for several besides my blog whenever I find time.

I only joined Twitter because Associated Content has a feature you can set up so when you publish a new article it automatically posts it on Twitter too. I didn't expect to get so involved meeting new people and sharing in very short posts is challenging at times but fun too.

Another reason I've resisted Twitter is just that - a lack of time to keep up with everything and I'm afraid I'd get too involved in it. I joined facebook and added the AC widget but now can't get back into my facebook account, which is a blessing, really.

Oh I had a major problem with facebook for a bit - my entire page was in a strange language and I only know English. Took weeks to get that straightened out.

As fopr writing, I don't write online, I just finished writing my story though that I hope to have published soon..:)

Oh dear I'm so happy for you finishing your story - you have to let me know when it's published. I dream of being published off line but currently am working on my style, grammer and such before I have the nerve to submit to a publisher.

Hahaha, that is why I have a retired english teacher helping me to edit it. Unfortunately she is always busy or gone to make it happen as quickly as I like..But she is a good friend and willing to help, so I can't complain..

i don't like twitter. i don't like the ambiance of the whole thing. it's kind of spooky, and teenage clingy like. i think there's many other writing sites out there that aren't totally freaky. it's just that i think the little bird their icon is ill. i write on it a little bit. but only follow one person. and this is actually the reason i went to the site. i didn't know you had to follow them! i usually use it to say things barely anybody else will see. different types of ways to write on the internet doesn't really excite me. it seems like everyone is saying the same thing, they're confused and excited at where this will go. i really don't prefer this new technology, but do it anyway. it is like talking to yourself.

So far I've managed to avoid Twitter (so I'm not a 'twit'). I'm finding it hard enough to be here at the moment, although my circumstances are changing so may be able to spare more time in the near future. I've never really been keen on social networks (probably an age thing) but may be convinced sometime in the future.

LOL I'm a twit that's forsure although I do know people who are much better at it and spend way more time there than I do. I have actually been plesantly surprised to find a 'mature' crowd on twitter - I think most of the 'kids' are still hooked on myspace which I have nothing at all to do with!

I'm not on Twitter because I feel I have enough to do to post to myLot, 4 cross-stitch boards, and others.

I don't know anything about Twitter and I don't have any idea about what it does. Anyway, I find it widely popular since most websites are using and promoting their Twitter account. What actually does it do and contribute to you? do mind sharing what it really does?

Mainly I use Twitter to promote my published articles and photographs - the main site I write for pays for views of our work so by sharing on twitter more people find my work. A lot of my friends on twitter are also writers so we read a lot of each others writing, share tips, and just have fun or give encouragement. Different people use twitter for a wide variety of things.

I've joined Twitter, too, and find it useful for promoting purposes also. I think perhaps the most amazing thing about the site is the way it is used to broadcast news from all over the world. The way Iranians used Twitter to tweet during the post-election protests was amazing -- I was practically addicted to the site during those events. It's definitely a place to go when something big happens because someone on the frontline is going to be posting about it.

I love Twitter and Facebook too. It's a whole new level of interaction, definitely. I sometimes promote my blog contents to Twitter too; just awesome.. .

I have a facebook account and several friends and family members I talk to there but all the games and such seem to slow my computer (it's old) down so I don't spend a lot of time there - I'm on twitter daily though :)

That's right; the PC here tends to slow down many times too and it's just quite frustrating, but I can get past that.. I love Twitter as well and it's indeed addictive. Cool social site..

I'm on twitter, but never use it much no one seems to care what I'm doing meanwhile some of my friends are so popular their stuff takes up my whole page, to me twitter is a bunch of confusion, now mostly on facebook and fubar.

LOL Twitter can get confusing - particularly if you have a lot of people you follow. When I first signed up I followed anyone that followed me and it was a mess. I'm particular about who I follow now and it's much nicer - I only follow people I have something in common with.

I love Twitter. Whenever I post a new piece, I can go right away and put it up on Twitter for people to see. What I don't like about Twitter is that a bunch of stupid people use it to post nothing except for inane things like "had spaghetti for dinner", "had diarrhea today", etc. In all cases, I don't care about these things. In some cases, I'm even better off not knowing them. I think (and this is going to sound fascistic) that in my ideal world you would only be allowed to have a Twitter account if you had something to say or share with the world such as your creative endeavors or your activist work.
