If I Could

If I could
Do you think I should
Remove past sorrows and pain
Would you
I wonder, could you
Possibly be the same
What has been
And what will be
As well as what we are currently
Combined will make yet a better me
If only you dared
If only to share
whom you truly are
That I could see
The reality
of together where we are
The past is forever gone
Release the pain and sorrow
Lessons turned
Blessings learned
From the past
Grant new tomorrows.
So, If I could
I don’t think I should
Remove past sorrows and pain
For I have become
And I for one
Know the blessings of yesterday
And hopes for tomorrow.

I wrote this because my mom, whom I only met a few years ago, long story, was telling me how she had changed. See, I discovered something really ugly she had done and was having a hard time dealing with it. Her, I changed ploy, well, was just that.

Hi Carolyn63,
I wouldn't want to change my past as that is what it made me who I am, to feel the pain is a learning curb for our destiny as we have to learn life with pain and sorry, that is what make us wise and to be able to deal with each pain and sorrow that is to come, but make the best of your life and be happy.
Bright Blessings
Tamara

I think this is beautiful.
It reads like the lyrics of an especially mournful, sad song: have you considered setting your poetry to music?
I love the sentiment expressed, too. Past sorrows and pain - they make us who we are, and I think it would be foolish to discard or cover them up.
