I love native foods here in the philippines especially espasol, it's a milled rice rolled with powder, i don't know what kind of powder it is. i also like palitaw, it's a rice dish also rolled in a grind fresh coco with roasted sesame seeds. i love it so much, i don't know if it is also available in some other countries..espasol looks like tikoy in japanese food, but the taste is different.

Hello xannebull, I am also a Filipino and lived here in Mindanao, I grew up in a province so I was exposed to almost all kind of native foods. My maternal grandmother used to make espasol before made from milled corn with fresh coco and pinipig. I know how to make palitaw too but now that I am living in the city, unfortunately, I haven't tried making one. My favorite Philippine native food is Banana Puto (banana paste)cooked in milk, sugar, eggs and butter, it is super yummy and delicious. I used to cook this in the boarding house which is then devoured by my board mates.

I live in the U.S. and I have several favorites. Maryland Blue Crab, steamed with Old Bay seasoning or made into crab cakes...hush puppies, which is made from cornmeal...southern fried chicken.

These both sound very good. I guess my favorite native foods would have to be hamburgers and french fries. I don't eat them too often because I'm usually trying to watch my weight but they are native foods. I like junk food, anyway, lol. Kathy.
