Yesterday my friend has a problem with his flashdisk, it can't be detected in any computer, but he don't wanna dump it as he said it still can be fine. I think it is impossible. Is it really can be repaired? Please tell me, thanks

I also don't think that it can be repaired. I think, if that happens, better throw it away and buy a new one. Flashdisks are now getting cheap and you can buy them at almost any computer store.

Yes sometimes flash disk can be cleaned or pins replaced to restore the data. This can be costly to have done but if there is data on the disk that can not be replaced or recovered it may be his only option. He will need to find a good computer repair technician to see if there is anything that can be done.

icecubic About flash/thumb/pen drive if it is repairable the answer is yes and no. First, yes it is repairable but it depends on the brand you the flash/thumb/pen drive like cuizer, transcend and some other that can be fix with the help of software and can be downloaded from their own site. No, it is not repairable due to other flash/thumb/pen drive that it is not supported by the said software. I have a flash/thumb/pen drive and its only 128MB but until now its still working though I unplug improperly.

Ideally flashdisk is autodetect to all usb port, but sometime your friend's problem could be happened. I have one flashdisk that can not be detected in one PC (yeach just that computer!)in my office, but OK to another PC. Flash detectability depends on USB port too.

Can't be detected on a PC have many causes. If the causes is hardware error on your Flashdisk, then just say good bye to your flashdisk, unless you are a technician that able to replace broken parts on your flashdisk. On some cases, not detected can be caused by a software error on your flashdisk. If this happened, simply contact your flashdisk manufacturer and ask about software repairer for your flashdisk.

IT all depends how you have damaged it and what have been damaged.Flashdrives are cheap so repairing it is useless untill you have something really important in it.Otherwise just buy a new one.Repairing as i have told can be done depending what is broken. So really you can't bet on that with your friend.Other thing that might have happen will be that the pendrive require special drivers for its detection(coz as u have said u tried it on many systems)

try using it on another PC. It is still not detected then better by a new one. Flash disks are kind of cheap anyway. So I think that is a better option that risk losing whatever data you will save in it in the future.
