Do you give tips on waiters and waitresses?

I do give them, but it all depends on the service they made on me or us. If i like their service, I usually leave them with 10%-15% of the total amount paid for what was consumed. But when the service is lousy, I usually end-up with tagged on their head and never come back again. How about you, do you give tips to waiters and waitresses? And how much usually it is?

It depends because I usually look at the receipt of my bill first. If I see that there is already a service fee on the receipt, I don't give a tip but if there is none, I usually give the change I get from my bill as a tip since I usually don't give the exact amount when paying for the bill. Of course, when the service is lousy, I will not give any tips at all even if there is no service fee on the receipt.

I'll try to look for that service fee next time I ask my bill. Hoping that its bigger and higher than what was expected.

Hi Fulltank, due to the recession it's nice for us to save every penny we earned. So I always try not to having meal in restaurant where we have to pay tip. Besides spending for the food we still have to pay government tax as well as service charge. I will be broke for sure if taking meal frequently in such high-class restaurant However it's fun, as well as to make our monotonous lifestyle with a bit of variation by eating meal in the exclusive restaurant with well atmosphere once in a while. I would feel embarrassed and uneasy if not giving any tip to the waiter or waitress there before living. I will give more if the service is satisfied. if not I will pay the minimum amount only. Have a nice day and happy posting

I believe I tip very good, because I understand what each waiter and waitress goes through. I use to be one myself. It's hard trying to make ends meet with how much tip you get throughout the week. Sometimes you get the worst customers that come in, and other times you get the really good ones. But for me I tip unless they we're just horrible at doing their job. You can notice the difference from someone who's doing a bad job cause that's their plan and someone who is really trying and just not getting done. I still tip however but it won't be as much as I would normally tip.

I tip, but I have figured out that the worse tip you can give is like a penny because it shows they did service but it was service done poorly.
