I advised my friends million times do not call while I am at work

There is something my friend do not understand, they kept doing it. I already advised them do not call me while I am at work, but my boss or someone else saw it, they might not like it. That is the work environment I am at right now. They have strict rule applied to every employee, and they expected the employees to follow the rules. Do not chat on cell phone while at work is one of them. Somehow, my friend keep on calling me randomly with trivial matter, and I simply shut off the call. Gosh, I just want him to understand the situation I am in.

The simple solution that I like to do is simply to turn your phone off. Go back 10 years when people would have to be patient and wait till you get home to use your home phone to talk. Ahhhh, those were the days. It can be a good thing to not be contactable throughout the day, but what can you do.

Turning off your cellphone is the best solution so no one bothers you while you are working. Some companies also strict about it and you should obey there rules or else you going to have a disciplinary action. If your friends doesn't understand your situation I think you be patient to them.

You're supposed to be connectable so I don't know on what your boss is on but he doesn't seem to have the brain capacity that you have a social life next to your working life and he probably doesn't. You're by the way not going to tell me your boss never receives private calls either. So he should now better.

Thats what a company phone is for. If there is an emergency they call that number. It not only verifies that the call is not a "can you please pick up bread on the way home", but it shows that you have respect for the company and people whom you work for. You shut off your phone while you are at work, check your messages on a break or lunch. That is common knowledge and courtesy. People think that they should be paid for their work and taking personal calls is no job description I have ever heard of. If there is one out there please let me know.

Yes that would be very annoying as well as possiably causing you to get in trouble. Keep your cell phone off or just dont take calls at all at work.

Easy solution is there for your problem. 1) If you care for your home calls and some others whose call you expect at any situation then get a SIM card of any company and activate it during your office hours . Only your close ones know that and not your friend. Again activate your old sim after the office hours and take it easy your friends and your headache. 2) Please switch off the mobile during your office hours to get out off all these troubling matters.

Hi Clorissa, I just don't know why he could not understand your request of not giving you a call during office hours. Good that you are not answering his call or if you have a secretary around instruct her to block his call once he make one. Your job is more important than his call not unless it is an emergency call that you really have to attend to but if it's petty and trivial forget it. He has all the time in the evening to call or even the weekends or your off days!

Why don't you turn your phone off while at work and turn it back on while break time. That's what I'm doing while in office. I think your friends won't be angry if you turn it off. You may tell them to leave a text or voice message if there's something important or emergency to tell.

I won't call any of my friends at work time unless there is something important. If my friends do, I ask them to call me or I call them back after work. Though there are no rules @ the place I work, I still think it's totally implite for us to answer phone calls, not abt work, while working.

You are right,it is the working rule, we have to follow. You can ask your friends to send you message if they have urgent things. You have told them your company rules, i think your friends should understand.

Do you need your cell phone at work or do you use the company phone for business? It is simple. Ask your boss to keep your cell phone for you. When someone calls and it is an emergency, he will tell you "your child is in the hospital." If it is your friend who wants to ask for something trivial, if your boss is a grouch, a growl or two from him will scare off your friend.

You have to be tactful. You can say, "please stop calling me at work, or i will get fired." Period. Your true friends will understand.

I think you did the right thing just turning off the phone. You may have to just come out and ask your friend how they would feel if the call that they make gets you fired. I hope they stop calling you at work.

It was right of you to shut off your phone during work. Your friend should understand that what the rules are and leave it at that and why not call you while you are at work. Don't think that you have done anything wrong, because you have not and if your friend cannot understand that then they are no friend at all. You shouldn't have to lose your job, for talking on the phone at work when you're not allowed to and your friend is calling. Just leave it at that, and if your friend ask why, then just tell them that you have a job and you can't talk on the phone and you will be leaving your phone off from now on.

Sometimes we cannot avoid to call received call even when at work. It is because emergency case happens. But if you really don't want to be disturb then simply set your cellphone ring tone to silent. So that, it won't get your attention while working.
