Bal Thackarey asked sachin to concentrate on cricket and not to get involved in politics. I think thats a pretty decent advice as long as there is no motive of getting political mileage from that. But what I think is more dangerous is Politicians getting involved in Cricket. I don't think its any lesser thanthe bookies and gamblers getting involved. We have never seen as many controversies coming up before Sharad Pawar taking the head position in BCCI. He killed the ICL just for his own political ego. ICL never threatened the authority of BCCI or ICC for that matter. A harmless T20 league which provided platform to many unknown cricketers full of talent to perform on a big stage. The Telecast rights saga is also well known. The fact that BCCI has an agreement on days of play basis and not on the number of match basis motivates the board to have test matches that will stretch the full 5 days and hence the pitches that are almost marble top. Politicising any thing is always bad for it.Sooner or later Cricket will cease to exist as a sport and will merely be turned into a mode of entertainment. What do you think of POliticians jumping into the cricket boat?

Politicians should not jump into any kind of sports. Unfortunately, it is the trend. It destroys the spirit of sports. Athletes try hard every day on practising in order to tune themselves to the best fit of each game. However, due to politics between governments, senior managements or some big organisations, some athletes are not allowed showing up on certain games and sometimes the whole team cannot go for a competition, just like what had happened in each Olympic games. How many years an athlete can be in the sports world!!! Do those politicians know it? They are damaging people's live, destroying athletes' dreams and depriving audiences' right!

Politics has been the bane of Indian cricket for some time now. The politicians have realized cricket is a cash cow and are milking it. You mentioned Sharad Pawar, there are others out there like Arun Jaitley et all who head the local boards. Unfortunately there is no easy way to remove the politicians from this because as administrators anyone can qualify. So I do not think there is any solution for this. Cheers! Ram
