Thats not fair, sometime i forget it too. At that time, i just lend it from someone. What happen? Why to get angry? It is all normal in India. We most of them, don't carry pen but carrying pen will help us in all situations.

I find this trend prevalent in our country which I hate like anything. One doesn't expect a person to carry a pen all the time. But as a person goes to places like bank, offices and post office where the necessity of writing something crops up any time they tend to borrow pens from others with a stupid glee on their face. This habit arises from the irresponsibility and the callous attitude of disturbing strangers. We always forget to teach the basic etiquettes in the school and the government doesn't even bother to send all the children to school.

Yes Yugasini.People are just graduated here not educated. They behave in very unpolished way in public. They do not know the nuance of greeting each other and do not know to keep the level of noise in public. The more louder the more merriment they think.Totally I just cannot see the niceties of life any more here.

I too always carry a pen, well when I remember. Sometimes I become forgetful and I believe that is what happens to some people. I get aggrivated some times though when I go someplace such as a bank or whatever and I forget a pen or a I lose my pen, then when I ask someone who works in a place that should be required to carry a pen and they state that they don't have one. That truely makes me upset and then they have to ask other people that they work with if they have a pen that I could borrow. That has happened to me so many times for me to count and I shouldn't become forgetful any more and just start carrying a pen with me when I go to places such as a bank to use a pen.

Yugasini, you are exactly like me.I do the same.I carry a pen always where ever i go,but if any time it is missing i will buy a new one instead of asking others. When people ask me for a pen i do give them, but i always doubt if they will return my pen.Because i have seen people who do not carry a pen,are also quite irresponsible and do not return others borrowed pen also.

Most of the times I go out I never need a pen to fill anything out and I think most people don't carry a writing utensil with them simply because of that: they never need it. It's not to say they should just disregard it completely but I guess some people don't feel it's necessary. And when you have to fill something important out, if you go to a bank or wherever, there's always extra pens for you to write with. I guess it just depends on the situation. Most people fill out important forms at home if they're not filling it out in a bank or wherever, so they just don't feel the need to bring it.

Hi, they are forgetful perhaps, or just silly and absent minded. I usually carry a pen and a small notebook with me. Sometimes a pencil as well, you know how it is with biro pens. Usually when you want to scribble a note down or leave a message on a door if someone wasn't at home, they don't work, or run out of ink, half way through the message. I hate that, so a pencil as well. But, you are correct about filling out official and legal paper work. It must always be in ink or pen, a pencil is not ok for those.

People usually carry pen along with them. Sometimes the pen may not be writing, ink would have exhausted. Sometimes they would have changed the handbag and in a hurry they would have forgotten that pen is not there in this bag. It is a small matter. If you have to buy a pen, you have to go out to the shop, buy and come. They may be in a hurry. I am a person always carrying two pens in my handbag. But one day I had to run to the bank as there was only 30 minutes left for the closing hours. I forgot to take pen and I borrowed it from some one. Though it is a rare thing that happened for me, how will the other person know that? So forgive these small nuisances friend. You do not know when you will do the same without your knowledge.

I have noticed this change may be due to an apparrel shift of clothing sense of casuals men nowadays prefer t-shirts and jeans neither of which have a suitable place to hold a pen. so this may be the reason.

simply because people nowadays are lazy to write and people are lazy to read. people have been consumed with other things like technology that they tend to regret such basic stuff!

Hi Yugasini. I do carry ink pens with me when I go out...two in my purse in case one runs out of ink. Some people, perhaps, just forget or don't think of it. Karen

I think it owes to the fact that you can easily lose a pen than any other things you carry. I admit i'm guilty of not carrying a pen but i prefer to buy one than to borrow from others. Cheers!

It is always a good habit to bring a pen and a tiny notepad, too. I sometimes forgot to bring my pen when I had changed another handbag. You're right, not many people have such a habit. In Hong Kong, it is not a must to bring a pen, as all the banks, post offices, department stores or government departments attached pens at the desks and counters. Even small boutiques, they have pens for customers to sign the credit card payment slips. Therefore, people do not need to borrow pens from others. Have a good day! agonyaunt69 (10:45am Friday 20 Nov 2009 Hong Kong time)

Id say most people are forgetful...... im especially guilty of that...lol Another problem could be that people might be afraid if the pens bursting in their pockets.......thats happened many times to me. I carry a few pens in my school blazer when I can but I definately hear many people asking me for pens... :-( If we are walking around school and they quickly need to write down something on a form I dont mind since its annoying fishing through your bag for a pen but it really gets on my nerves when people for some reason have no pens in their pencil case and I lend them a pen and I never see it again. Most of the time that person comes back the next day and asks to borrow another pen.... :-P If I didnt fancy the guy he would get a smack around the head!!
