A friend made a comment to me that got me to thinking. The comment: Spreading goodness and love is the solution, if one realizes God, there will be no ego to inflate. Does Ego keep you from understanding God?? The Ego can take many forms. It can come out controlling where one wants to run everyone's life demanding everything should be done their way. It can make one feel superior to others seeing others as wrong, bad, sinful, and evil. It can generate hate toward those different from ourselves whether by race, gender, sexuality, physical appearance, or even for those who refuse to change to their thinking. Ego can demand that we are always perfect or right and yet our mistakes lead us to the very perfection that we seek. We all have the power to choose what we deem important in this world. Isn't the Ego what makes us choose anything or everything above other people?? Shouldn't children of God come before conquering, making money, or flashy possessions??? Understanding God is to understand Unconditional Love. If the very smartest Being loves unconditionally, shouldn't that be the thing to do?? Yes, I know. Easier said than done, but it is each and everyone of us making our choices in life. What do you think??

The ego certainly gets in the way to believing, understanding, and walking with God. But the sooner we let go of our way, trust and let God guide and steer us in life, the happier we will be. It is the ego that is the center of all our troubles.

I guess that comes with free will. You can tell me not to walk through that mud puddle but sometimes I must go splashing through it just to see what happens. People might be telling us how muddy we might get, but as with most people, we know what is right for us until the consequences arrive to teach us the truth. I'm off the change clothes, shoes, and socks. Mud puddles can make a mess of them. It's all part of the learning and growing that comes with life. We are all going to get there. It might take me a bit longer for I might have to hit every mud puddle til I find my way home. Boys will be boys I guess!! Thanks for all your comments Sweetchariot.

Bird, You are absolutely right! We often, by our own determination, and self-will, have to walk thru all those darn mud puddles before we finally get sick of cleaning up the mess after. It is so sad that we didn't figure it out the first time...lol. Fortunately that is part of the journey..if we were to figure it out right away, then we'd have an almost perfect world, and wouldn't need God to teach us anything anymore. So, instead, God gave us life so that we may discover ourselves, and to know him. If only we'd let go of the ego, our struggles, and mistakes life wouldn't be so harsh. As the saying goes: "I asked God to spare me pain and struggles". God said "No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me." Nice chatting with you...good discussion!

Ego does keep us from understanding God. The Bible implies it. Jesus on many occasions advises people to humble themselves and to forsake themselves and take up their own cross.

If it were only that easy just to tell people. I'm afraid consequences will have to teach some. Thanks for your comments!!
