Does dog have illusion?

Have you ever hear about some similar thing like this? When i was twelve, one day i took my dog xiaobai out to visit a lake. That is the first trip for it. There are many floating weeds and water lilies on the surface of the lake. Xiaobai was very excited at the sight of the view. When we crossed the lake, it plunged into the lake at one stroke. i have never thought that will happy at my side for an instant and pushed the panic button. But fortunely, i found a club in the end then help it go ashore. i can't comprehend some action about pet. Does pet have some unique sense like human? or it is only a response to the envirnment?
