The 5 best things in my life are...?

What are the 5 best things in your life - the things that make you the happiest everyday? The things that make it worth it to get out of bed in the morning, to keep pushing when you are tired? I have to admit, many days I have trouble just finding the will to get out of bed and keep going. Yes, I've seen a doctor, and yes, I've tried meds, but neither worked for me, and truthfully, I don't believe these are the answer. I think I need to look at life differently, or even change my life, in order to make it worth living. I have many things to be grateful for, yet non of it motivates me to push myself for the next 50+ years or so (if I'm lucky) until I die. I am not interested in accumulating wealth of any sort (in fact, I'm striving for minimal monetary flow, in and out), so I guess I need to quantify my question a bit: Besides earning money or wealth, what motivates you everyday, long-term or short-term? Please list up to 5 things that you live/strive/get up for. I would answer myself, but I'm still trying to figure them out for my own life!

hi celestialbloom my five best things are my son first, then a new day all gifted wrapped and full of sunshine, hope that He will get a job, then my computer, and monitor, and the internet and lastly mylot. keeps me sane in a place where there are so many here that are close to looney tunes. I intend to keep my intelligence until i die, and not succumb to senility or alzenheimer's disease. So by using my brain I am keeping it fit and working right. so I do not go around talking nonsense to myself or hold conversations with nobody there to reply to me. celestial look at each day as a gift from God that might help your outlook and be thankful for what you have , not sad for what you do not have.

Hello Hatley. I'm sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you. Through Thanksgiving I tried to keep your response, as well as those of others, in mind. Though I was working instead of celebrating on Thanksgiving, I thought about how I would answer my own question. The five best things in my life are: my wonderful grandmother, my sister, my home with enough yard to garden in, some of the best pets in the world, and my job. Several of those things are a combination of blessing and curse, but for the holidays, I'm trying to focus on the blessings and just deal with the curses. Things could be worse. Thank you for helping me look at the positive side of things at this tough time of year. Also I wanted to say that I think it is great that you are on here and that I think you are absolutely correct that using the internet, and specifically myLot, is a great way to keep your brain sharp! My grandmother uses it in the same way, though she hasn't been on myLot yet. She mainly likes to read things and play free games, like poker and dominoes, on sites where she earns points towards prizes, from what I understand. Sometimes she chats with the other players. Her brain stays very sharp, and I think the internet has a lot to do with it. You seem like a sharp cookie yourself, Hatley, and I don't doubt a bit that being online and on myLot has helped keeped the bats out of your belfry, so to speak, hehe. The internet is such a great resource! Maybe I should have made room on my list for it too...

Hi bloom. After i read your discussion, i look back to my latest life. It is a pity that the only good thing I met is getting a scholarship. I have decided to fight for my future, then I can find many wonderful things.

Your words are inspirational, Norah. :) Like you, there are not a whole lot of good things in my life, and I think this makes me become sad thinking about the future. But I think I need to adopt your attitude and "fight for my future," as you put it so well, and make my future be better than my past. Good luck to you in your battle for a brighter future!

It sounds like you have lots of good things to keep you going everyday, littlehoneymonster! All of my friends who have children tell me that having children changes your whole life and gives it a new sense of meaning, purpose, and awareness. Someday I hope to experience this for myself, but for now I just have three cats and two dogs - more than enough to care for! :)
