...you might want the same thing three years from now! "An analysis of 30,000 new laptops from SquareTrade, which provides aftermarket warranty coverage for electronics products, has found that in the first three years of ownership, nearly a third of laptops (31 percent) will fail." http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/154921 And to think I almost bought an Acer 3 years ago!!! Ended up not getting one at all, but I would like to get one, so tell me your experience with your brand (and mention brand name!) laptop.

I have yet to have a laptop fail (knocking on wood!), except for one Compaq years back which had the courtesy of failing very soon after I bought it and they sent me a prepaid mailer to return it and had it back in a few days and it has been working ever since, except that I wore out the keyboard. It is just a backup computer now of course 6 months is a long time in the life of a computer and that one is now about 12 years old now. But I have had desktops fail, including a beautiful HP slimline that they did a recall on, but it was not convenient for me to return that one because it was at some distance from where I am at, and I do not want to travel a long ways just to go rescue it. It is too much trouble and the trip would cost more than a new computer.

Hello coffeebreak this is checkmail and am still trying to reach that much cash balance to purchase an Laptop, but its costs are too high, but will be convenient for me to carry. As normally working parttime i have to go out of city for many times, currently on break. But it will make me ease to have an laptop.Yeah the durability of an laptop is questionable as its warranty is hardly year or two but still its advantage is that its personal and not an shared one at cyber cafes.Think if we can earn enough income to pull out a laptop in a year than can go for it.
