Should women get mammograms before the age of 50?

This is all over the news right now, and I think that it is completely outrageous to wait until you are 50 to get a mammogram! I heard on The View that Colorado was previously the only state that made you wait until 50 to get the exam, and it has the highest rate of deaths from this cancer, and also the lowest rate of early detection! Do you think it is safe to wait until 50 for a mammogram, or not?

I think waiting that long could have some risks you never know if your going to get cancer and now a days many many people have cancer. Plus they say if you can catch it early your chances are better. I do not plan on waiting till I am 50 that is for sure. May 35 I think. I don't think at such a young age that you have to get a mamogram very year maybe every other year.

I think the old guidelines should be followed and regular ones should be started at 40 if not before depending on medical and family history. These new guidelines are probably just a first in what will be seen if the Obama health plan is passed.
