War Tax

War Tax -
American Citizens could be forced to pay a war tax. This was a bleak warning from David Obey, chairman of the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee. This tax would cost high earners 5% of their incomes. Lower earners would pay less.

This tax would act just like Round Up; killing any green shoots popping up after the dismal recession we suffered. Democrats fear that Obama deepening the war(s) in Afghanistan and or Iraq will kill the still very fragile recovery of the US economy.

The Pentagon requested for up to 40,000 reinforcements to the troops already fighting in Afghanistan. Our allies promise to send in reinforcements as well. The question is...can we afford this war? Can America win and still survive? America is already groaning under a deficit of $11.4 trillion. Our creditors, notably China, will not carry us forever. * American Citizens could be forced to pay a war tax. there's alot of things we can't afford.... but when we send our troops to war, and they then start saying that they need more...whatever....well, it's time to either give them what they need to do the job they were sent to do, or bring them home...in an orderly, safe fashion... to be honest, I don't care which one of the two they do, and the fact that they are talking about a tax to help pay for this now as opposed to just borrowing more to pay it is a good sign in my book!! I'd rather tax and spend than borrow and spend, although I wish they'd just quit with the spending now!

My fear is this tax will be an economy killer. I would have the troops come home.

I think, can't say for sure, but I think that the following are on the current administration's list of priorities (in no particular order): Iraq and Afghanastan Universal Health Coverage Human Rights and Marriage Equality The deficit, the economy, the housing situation, the unemployment Thank you to your son for serving our country; and I hope for his safe and quick return.

Do you know the reasoning why he is sending reinforcements? Haven't we all but killed everybody by now? Obama - I beg of thee - pull us out of Iraq and Afghanastan. War is never the solution. Peace is economical.

I'm curious, what do you think will happen to Afghanistan if we pull out now? Where do you think al Quaeda will go to resume their training and recruiting before launching another attack on the US? Oh yeah, I forgot. Terrorists are just victims of Bush. They only attacked us because of the wars in Iran and Afghanistan. Or did those wars start because we were attacked by terrorists?

There is no evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt that Al-quaeda was behind the tower attacks.

I am pleased to announce that I saw in another thread about the 34,000 troops that this should be the end of it. This is what the general says should get the job done. That means we will be able to get out of Afghanastan, and hopefully Iraq.
