When you meet new people online, or even in person, Are you honest and open with them? Just how much of your life do you share with them? I always have figured there is not much point in hiding things, or lying about anything.. after all, if its friends your after, no one enjoys a liar, and lying catches up with you eventually.. no one can keep track of all the lies they tell if they tell a lot of them. I think I am more open with people online then i am with people i meet in person.. I've mentioned in other discussions that i'm a really shy person and some of you scoffed at me!! well its true, but when I can hide behind a keyboard, I guess I get a little more brave.. So what have you? are you an all or nothing type of person, or do you half @ss everything even your friendships?:P

Hi Sissy, I tell a bit about myself but won't reaveal the "entire" me, for obvious reasons. but I won't lie. yes lying would eventually make you fall in your own trap, and I don't think anybody likes a liar. Interesting discussion. Bodhi

I'm always honest about things. If I'm not comfortable with something, I just don't discuss it. There's nothing to be gained by pretending I'm someone I'm not! Haven't seen you here for awhile, I hope you've been well!

I'm so glad you're doing well! I haven't spent as much time here as I'd like, I've been busy with my writing. Things are well, life is good and every day brings blessings--I hope it will be so for you, too! Have a wonderful day!

HiYa Sissy, WOW! That is really scary! We are so much alike it's twilight zoneish! You just described me to a tee! I figure their is no point in lying because the truth always comes out, and in person I am very shy but more gutsy when I have a computer to hide behind. I have been burnt really bad before so I don't trust as easily as I once did, but other then that we are the same! Wow! Crazy! Hope you and your family are doing well!

I tell the truth or don't say anything at all. I may tell my side of the story, but it's the truth as I see it. I may not tell you everything, but it's better then lying. It's silly and wrong to lie, and your right that people don't like it, so if your going to be any kind of a friend it might as well be a good one!

I agree.. even if you tell the person, sorry i'm not willing to share that with you right now. That's better then lying for sure.. and if they dont understand then they are probably not really worth being friends with anyways, and you should be SUPER HAPPY you did'nt share it with them!

Oh yes, nothing worse then being completely truth and having it shoved back in your face... Some people are spiteful, especially in the teen years. I just got out of those years a few years ago myself, and woo... Am I ever so glad to be away from friends like the ones I had.

Hey Sissy! I am the same way online as I am offline! I happen to be a very open and honest person! As you said, there is no point in lying or hiding things because they always end up coming out anyway! Sometimes I am a bit too honest and tell people a bit too much! When my friends ask me things I answer them, but when I ask them things, they don't and that annoys me! I have certain friends (offline) that think their life should be full of secrets so they seem more important! To me that is just a bunch of bull! So with me what you see is what is who I am always!

Sissy if its the 1st time your meeting someone I think we all use a little caution, but as time goes on and you actually establish a friendship we will all start to reveal more of ourselves to the other person its natural. I think it is a matter of comfort level, with that said, I do feel you should be honest with that person at all levels of the relationship. I also feel that you should be getting information on a two way basis and it should not be a onesided relationship. In those cases I'm a little less likely to share about myself to the other person. So I'd say I'm in, out and inbetween depending on the other person in the relationship.

hi sabator, I've got to agree with you there.. if one person shares more then the other then.. the non-sharer is probably looking for something else other then friendship! There are a lot of people out there just trying to scam/hurt other people.. you so have to be careful. Thanks for your response!

I don't have anything to hide and actually benefit from letting people know who I am....I am however careful as to who gets a closer relationship like exchanging addresses...but that's just to be careful.

hi sissygrl I am really open and honest about myself with all mylot friends as that is who I am.I am a kind of person who If I did tell a lie would show it on my face and would feel so guilty I would be sure to say,oh sorry I did not mean to lie, shame on me. it was such and such.No I am truly honest about myself, what you read is what I really am. nobody wants to be friends with a phony person who never tells the truth. I am indeed an all or nothing type of person.

Hi hatley, I'm an all in type-a-gal too.. no point in being phony, that's for sure.. As for the lying in person.. It depends on the lie.. i can lie to my children... (oh we have no cookies right now but you can have your lunch!!) stuff like that not big huge mega lies.. we always have cookies in the cupboard LOL. But as far as lying to someone ... they can usually see it on my face too.. so i SO dont bother.. i'm a horrible liar.. I am also an overthinker, so if i think that i'll have to lie, or be awkward about something before i do it/say it, i probably wont do/say it so that i keep myself out of trouble.. that's in person though. Online i rarely hold anything back. :P

I'm mostly halfway in when it comes to online friends. Mainly because if I have to vent about a person - I have to elaborate who that person is and how is that person related to me. And I'm sure they'll forget who that person is - once i'm done talking about them. So I only share mainly good things (and some bad things) when it comes to online friends. Like I said, half-way in.

well you can be an all the way in kinda person and be positive all the time, just because your not sharing bad things doesn't mean your half in, just means you come off as a positive person! I try not to be negative also, but there are time when you just gotta vent. and A lot of friends if your not always negative will just let you go on and on without explanations as long as its not a never ending rant! hehe. helps to get some stuff off your chest once in a while even if the person doesn't fully understand, you at least let it out!
