How do you net those elusive Refferals for myLot?

Simply put , in order to get referrals , you need a good marketing campaign , I recently came up with one idea that is not so new but might just work. I am going to redesign an old fastcgi C++ CGI application that I designed a few years ago during the banner ad hype and use it to switch through multiple banners of programs that I wish to market. In this case , various designs of myLot banner ads that I will design using gimp (open source image editing software). From each impression on the same url, the banners would rotate according to weights assigned to them ... that is ..random banners all with my refferal link which will be redirected to by the CGI application , so no one will see the refferal link until they click on the link and are on myLot signing up. With banner ads it's just the design that matters ..it must be enticing enough. So if anyone has had a similar experience with banner ad's please tell me. I will post any progress in a later discussion , and if it proves to be profitable ..i'll give people on myLot to use to improve their own refferal levels.
