I just want to have idea because in my country, we don't have specific day of celebrating thanksgiving. And if we have thanksgiving, our food preparation is different. Since I arrived here, my hubby did not celebrate thanksgiving, he even work during thanksgiving day which is a holiday to most. But this thanksgiving day, he planned to invite his friends to come over then I asked him what food am I going to prepare he just told me, he doesn't know.. hahaha.. Of course Turkey is the significant food for this but our visitors are vegetarians. Is there any idea you can share with me except the Turkey? Hope I can gain some insights before the day comes.

Hi Bebs! Yes we don't have specific date of Thanksgiving in our country. I wish we have. Anyway, to me each day is a thanksgiving day! As I go to God in prayer each morning, I thank Him for all that I have and all that I am. In our church we do celebrate thanksgiving every last week of January which is also our Church Anniversary. Now with your vegetarian visitors, certainly Turkey will not make them happy of course. I am not a vegetarian actually but I prefer vegetables most of the time and fish also. I don't eat pork. I hate even its smell actually. So I believe your vegetarian visitors will frown at the turkey but will be happy to see lots of greens and fruits on the table. Vegetable salad, a mixture of lettuce, apples, onions, cucumber, onions, green tomatoes, carrots, turnips and whatever greens have you will actually be very inviting to them. Just make sure your make a tasty dip for this salad. I do use mixture of cottage cheese, all purpose cream, diced onion, pickles, white pepper, diced celery, and diced bellpepper for my dip. You can make your own, just be creative dear! Hope this thanksgiving day will be very memorable to you!

Oh!! you have given me an idea my friend. That's nice!!! they would love salad which they usually have when there is gathering.. but I think I will make it a little bit different from the normal salad they have. I like to try your dip. We never have that.. and might add more ingredients to it like nuts etc. I do hope this thanksgiving will be a memorable one for us. hahaha...

Yes, good idea of adding nuts. You gave me good tip! Almond nuts I think you have plenty of them! They are so healthy so although they are so expensive here I still do buy them because I know the nutritional benefits.

hahaha almonds, walnuts, peacans, etc are also expensive here my friend if I'm going to convert the value.. 1lb here costs $5-6 but as what you said it is worth because of the nutritional value. I just know today that our friends who are vegetarians are not coming, they can not make it.. but I have another one who wants to come.. this salad dip would still work..

Of course turkey will top the list. candied yams, stuffing and all of the trimmings are going to be on the table. Of course we will save room for the pumpkin pie!

that is kinda hard but I know with internet and with friends here, you will be able to gather ideas... Anyway, how about salad, or vegetarian sandwich...Their food here is always light compared to how we prepare food in our Country whenever we have gathering... It's my 2nd Thanksgiving here and same as last year, we will only go to the restaurant! Anyway, I tried to look for a site for you..Check this out: http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Everyday-Cooking/Vegetarian/main.aspx
