Do cats teleport themselves?

Well, do they? I got up from the couch to go to the other room. Harmony was sitting in the chair when I left the couch. She didn't run past me, and yet, there she was sitting in front of me. I almost stepped on her.

Well it has been written that cats are mystical and physic so you never do know! It has happened to me before, they have a way of moving around that is so smooth and quiet and we don’t always hear them. One of my cat jumps up really high on top of furniture ever so quietly; I’ve often looked for her and thought she was lost somewhere until I look up and there she is on top of something tall! Both of mine have scared me too coming out of nowhere and rubbing against my legs!

Yes, their penchant for vertical takeoff is another thing...

Hey BarBara! I have wondered that myself many times! I almost trip over my cat, Star all the time! I could swear he is in one place and turn around and he is in another or under my feet, also just about tripping me! Or when I get up from my computer chair to do something and go back to the chair there he is sitting in it! At least my cat, Luna makes his presence known! He is the loud mouth whiny cat, unlike his brother Star who is usually quiet except for his extremely loud purrs...

Isn't it amazing how quickly they manifest themselves in one's computer chair, even if one has just barely risen from it to reach up on a shelf.

I dont know if cats can teleport themsdelves. What I do know is that one of cats can tell the time and has ESP. Every time she needs to go to the vet for a vaccination or to the cattery, she goes into hiding. This happens a few hours before leaving the house. There have been times when I have had to ring the vet and delay her vaccination, or delay putting her into the cattery at the last moment. My cast does this every time. No doubt your Harmony can slip through your legs without you knowing anything!! Very clever cat.

I think they are just faster than the human eye.. you know super powers... Mine do that all the time.. they follow me back and forth, but I am also amazed at how they end up in front of me and I trip over them or step on their feet. I have one that follows me everywhere and unties my shoes (if they aren't already untied) so i often have this kitten attached to my shoe lace and I have to drag him behind me. It has become his favorite pass time. I had one the other day who wouldn't come in the front door (because the dogs are all standing there waiting to pounce) So I closed the front door and walked into my office about 3-4 steps away and he was running ahead of me into the room.. He had RAN all the way around the house and came in through the back window I leave open for them.. And he did it in like 4 seconds.. LIKE I SAID.. Faster than the human eye.. lol

Seriously! I have three cats but one in particular who just seems to appear. I'll look for her and look for her and look for her, in all the usual places and then I'll just turn around and she's sitting right behind me, poised as if she'd been there the whole time.

While I don't think cats actually "teleport" themselves, they do have ways of moving along so they could not be seen or heard by others, this including their owners. My cats have been known to sneak up on me a time or two. But we are still learning what our pets are capable of.

I would swear they do, at least to a certain extent - I've found cats in rooms that the door hasn't been open for days and the cat was seen earlier - the kicker is that they can't get OUT again!

LOL--I sometimes wonder that myself. One minute I know and swear one of my cats is one place, I go to another room and there he or she is and it's like...huh?

That's a little spooky. I have never heard about cats teleporting or anything. Maybe she sneaked, or maybe their is a special route in your house, you know, the secret ones we never know about, through which the cat followed you. Anyways, Cheer up! Regards, AJ-Rox

Well, if they can, they probably do! I've never had an experience like that, I can usually hear my cats when they are coming or going. But I wouldn't be suprised if animals could do things like that. They have simpler minds than humans and are more connected with nature.
