Are you scared by the title? Take it easy. Let me talk. In our company, somking is prohibited ,especially in staff locker, which is a place for staff to change uniform or have a shower. For smokers, they have a area in staff canteen. But some girls are really heavy somker. They always smoke in the locker, which makes me cough and uncomfortable. I really hate them and I hate all the guys who smokes in public. They are killers, who harm around people by second-hand cigarate. Should they be tipped off to Our human resources department? What do you think about it?

lord. i am a smoker my thing is if they are smoking in a none smoking area then yes i do agree but if they are outside and you just so happen to be standing next to them, its easy then move away from the person who is smoking instead standing right there or ask them nicely if they could move. as far as calling them killers is pretty stuipd, my thing is most none smokers are ruder then smokers. just because you or anyone dont smoker doesnt mean i shouldnt smoke because you dont like it. to me its like saying you dont like rock music and no one else should either because its the devil music just silly. when i do smoke around none smokers i try not to stand near them, and if the wind blows in thier dirction i move if they ask me in a nice way saying its bothering them i say sorry and move. but like before well i was smoking outside and this guy said your smoking is bothering me, i said sorry to him went to move and he started to push me. that dont give him that right, it did give me the right to knock the crap out of him for putting his hand on me.

I am going to agree with you on this one. i don't make it a point to stand around or trap people into breathing in my smoke. Those that i hang with who don't smoke simply don't follow me outside. When my current beau and I found each other about a year ago, he came to my house that I was allowed to smoke in. He quit smoking and because of the kids, doesn't allow it in the house, so I would go outside. He then explained that it being cold outside, it would be best if I just stay on the back porch which is enclosed. It also has an air cleaner. I am courteous in a way that I don't smoke around non smokers, and I am not trying to kill anyone with it. It's my personal choice and people around me just deal with it. If those workers are smoking in a non smoking area, then yes, they need to be reported. I am not a killer though and you need to choose your words wisely. We all die in the end, some of us choose to go quicker. Have a good day.

i dont know where you are from but i am in the states, and i know in md, va as well dc there is no smoking inside at all in many places. to me if i was near you i would make sure that the smoke dont go near you if i can help it, and if you came to me in a respectful way and tell me it was bothering you i would say sorry and move away from you

I am sorry if the word killer makes you uncomfortable. I think i didn't make me clealy understood.Let me put like this way. It seems I am not lucky enough to meet guys like you. When I watch movie in a theater and just so happen to sit next to a somker, how can I move away? If he can stop smoking after I NICELY remind him, what does 'no smoke'sign mean to him.If we have a meeting in a small room and just happen to have a somker there, should I just leave? If they just somke outside,i just move away. That's ok. I will not call them killer. They have right to somke. But suffer from the somke really bad. I feel sorry about your story, the guy push you really did the wrong thing. Any way, your participatin is welcome here. Sometimes we just need different points here.

Although I have been a smoker in the past I would definitely tip off the human resources department. If it is against the rules and you report them I doubt that they are going to know that it was you anyway so who cares. They should stop being so selfish and stick to the rules as they are there for a reason. I hate people who think that they can just do what they like when they like because they feel like it.

I hate smoking too. especially those smoking in the public place. When I was working in the last company, both the president and the president's assistant are both smokers and they smoke very much . I feel I was poisoned every day. Government should come out more strict rules for this. for the health of other people.

I don't think you should tip them off, you are making a mountain out of a mole hill :). Just tell them (the smokers) that it is prohibited and that you will tell management if they do not quit.

anniege, First of all, I do not know what good will your complain do if there is no follow up or no rules against defaulters. So, you may want to suggest something like a fine for defaulters and have some mid management staff to ensure enforcements against smoking in enclosed and non permitted premises. In my position, I will lodge a complain as that is being responsible and civic minded. Take care.
