Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Our thoughts are on all of the wonderful foods we will eat. Here is something appetizing and sweet to think about. This Thanksgiving, would you prefer canned yams or real sweet potatoes?

Hi, sender621. I would prefer the real sweet potatoes. I would like to eat just as long as it is sweet and buttery. My father-in-law can cook this really well. I want to learn his secret. It is very yummy the way that he cooks it. For Thanksgiving, I am desiring more homemade dishes.

Hello sender621 this is checkmail and me too would rpefer to have the sweet potatoes instead of somee canned yams for thanksgivings.Yeah the natureal sweet potatoes are easy to cook as well as too tasty full of juice in it.Especially its too tasty when mine mom or sis cooks it for me.I enjoy it very much and its hard to believe that i relished it.So innocent of me.

hi sender oh the real thing, real raw sweet potatoes as they taste so much better.the others are faster but too icky sweet. I like the natural taste much better. canned always seem to lack something.

I agree. They are probably healthier for us too.

I always prefer the real sweet potatoes or yams. I think they have a lot more body and taste. I also like the fibrous texture. The canned seem to lose both texture and flavor to me. Sweet potatoes can be used so many ways and make good leftovers. They are not as mushy as the canned or as "processed" in flavor and texture. I like the substance and body of the real deal.

The canned version does have its flaws. Nothing can seem to be natural sweet potatoes.

I definately prefer sweet potatoes. In general I really don't like canned foods- the slight metal-y aftertaste is just too yucky for me. Plus with real sweet potatoes, you can add as much honey or sugar or syrup as you want, and flavor is differently.

I prepare both kinds because some like the can and others like myself like the fresh sweet potatoes. I like them both I just think the fresh are a bit more healthy. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for responding.
