Just in case and before you go clicking away on security alerts that pop up when accessing legitimate websites, do hesitate and think twice even thrice for a good measure. The "alert" usually will come in warning of a virus and offers security software, sometimes for free and/or for a fee. However, as most victims do not really realize that these are nothing but are actually conduits for cyber thieves to take over your computer machines which aim is to take your credit card information, every personal information, passwords that you've entered there. According to this recent news article, Symantec found 250 varieties of scam security software with legitimate sounding names like Antivirus 2010 and SpywareGuard 2008, and about 43 million attempted downloads in one year but did not know how many of the attempted downloads succeeded. So, do think twice about these "alerts" and be safe with known software companies. It does not pay to be adventurous here. Let's hope this will be an eye opener for everyone here. Hi sky! I am so pleased with your information. I am so "allergic" with spyware and viruses on the net! I don't usually download any stuff online, after getting some viruses on my laptop two weeks ago. I was so surprised about fake security software. That is insane! I hate those hackers! Thanks again! Happy lotting1

danitykane, I hope that you will not hate "all" the hackers as there are really good hackers in the midst. Frankly, we need them in cyberspace to keep software developers, ISP, online facilitators and authorities ever on their toes and that end users will be assured that their security online are never neglected or in deliberate jeopardy. I think it is also because of them, people like us are being forced to learn and pick up healthy online practices and habits. Appreciate the works of good antivirus and anti spyware softwares and the updates from our operating systems. So, in this sense, hackers are not completely a bane in cyberspace nowadays. There may be incidents where some of them have stepped over the line and fell off the moral / ethical grid but hey who wouldn't, especially when you seem to be in control and on top with the most confidential information. Just remember to be on your toes as you enjoy this new and exclusively helpful technology. Have a nice day. Ref: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/6670127/Top-10-most-famous-hackers.html
