Potty training your kiddo?

So how did you go about potty training your little one. I have a son that is a bit over 2 1/2 years old and he can use the potty, but would rather just mess himself. o_O I just started using a sticker chart for him which sort of helps, but i'm having problems with it because he spends the weekends and Wed. day with his dad. I think with him going back and forth it's hard for him to get into a routine. Your thoughts?

I WOULD AGREE WITH THAT, GOING BACK AND FORTH PROBABLY ISN'T WORKING, CHANCES ARE DAD ISN'T FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH YOUR ROUTINE. FOR US IT WAS PRETTY EASY, WE JUST BROUGHT OUT THE POTTY, SAT HIM ON IT A FEW TIMES AND PRESTO CHANGO WE HAD A BIG BOY. MIND YOU WE WOULD REWARD HIM WITH A LITTLE TREAT FOR THE FIRST LITTLE WHILE PROBABLY 2-3 WEEKS.

We are trying to hash down something routine that he will be able to follow here and there. Hopefully we can and he'll have an easier time with it. :) On the other hand, my son's doctor was telling me that with boys they sometimes don't start showing interest until about 3 years old.

Right now my 1 1/2 little girl is being potty trained, but its her choice, she love to wear the underware....and be a big girl. My boys were older and harder. My youngest son was easy we did it when he was alittl over two and it was summer, He liked to run around naked out side and pee.

Oh my god girl you don't even know the trouble i am having with my 3 year old daughter. I was beginning to think i was a bad mom, then the DR. told me that when she was ready she would go. I have her in pull ups so she feels like a "big girl" and every morning when she wakes up the first thing she does is go put her potty seat on the big potty and sit down, but that is all she does. I swear 10 times a day she will say mommy i have to go potty, so we go to the bathroom and go through this same routine. She still won't actually go though... she just sits there and looks at books or talks, i have even tried sitting outside the bathroom and taking away the books but she still will not actually go....(hangs head and cries) at day care she does the same thing, sits but won't go. I just got the sticker deal in the mail so maybe i can bribe her with those. I don't know i have tried everything. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

It's so frustrating.. @_@ I hope you situation works out soon as well. I was hoping that things would be much easier than they have been lol. I need like a solid week of having him at home and i think i could get it licked. Probaly not, but i'd like to pretend that i could. XD

I have a 20 month old son and 2007 is "potty train my son" year. Me and my boyfriend got him a potty for Christmas. He seems afraid of it right now. So, I'm not going to push it at all. Hopefully by the end of the year, he will be more into it. I just can not be one of those parents with a 4 or 5 year old that still uses diapers.

Oh god.. that would suck.. :( My son will be 3 in Feb and we are getting closer and closer to getting it all worked out now. Today he only had one accident, although he still wears diapers to bed and naps and such.

My niece was potty trained by 2! My sister is so lucky! My son still doesn't say too much so I think it is going to be hard for him to comprehend what were are trying to teach him in the first place.

I wish I could help you. My son isn't quite there yet. But I don't look forward to this process! :) It would be nice to potty train as soon as we can to avoid buying diapers all the time.
