Thankful

Every year at Thanksgiving, whether last month in Canada or tomorrow here in the US, we take a look back at the many things we are thankful for. Everyone usually says their family and friends. Some include a special event or happenings. Some get specific with other things. At times I feel though that too many forget those blessings through out the rest of the year. We forget about those who fought for us and fight for us except on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. We forget how lucky we are to live in a land where we can go out and safely drive to the grocery store for milk. We forget how lucky we are to be able to come online and to talk on the phone or cell phone. Or to watch a football game being played in Detroit or Dallas or Denver (did they plan on Thanksgiving to be played in cities starting with the letter D?) We forget that even 20 years ago, most of us would never have conceived of the internet and how it has become so much a part of our lives and how lucky we are to have our internet friends. In Canada they have Rememberance Day, we should add that here in the US. A day to remember how lucky we are and to remember the struggles and the triumphs. Every day I am thankful that I am alive and living in this wonderful place and time, and that I have Gather and other places to share. So what are you thankful for?

Thank you for your beautiful statement and question. I am thankful that my father's cancer went into remission this year! I am thankful for my children and the relationship they have with each other. I am thankful that the past is in the past and the future is shining out ahead and the present is peaceful. I am thankful that I can express myself through writing.
