I have been looking to going back to college but with working full time and having children, I am going to have to go back to school online. I was contacted by Argosy University Online and I am looking into their school tonight. Does anyone know anything about this school or have you done some courses with them before?

It is better to look at online courses at your local university or college. The most important criteria is that the school is accredited, otherwise any degree or certificate you get after paying big money is not worth anything and will not be accepted by reputable companies and institutions. You probably can also get free advice from accredited schools as to what your best strategy should be . On top of that you will likely save money.

You would save a lot of money if you would enroll for online classes at your local community college or university. I looked at several online colleges and they were all at least twice as expensive as my local community colleges, universities and trade schools. Whatever you choose, be sure that it is an accredited school and not a fly-by-night ripoff--there are plenty of those ripoffs out there.

I can't say I know anything. Tere do seem to be alot of online schools. You should check with the online BBB. Information should be available there.

I don't know much about these online schools but so many new ones have popped up lately that it seems rather fishy. The thing you have to find out is if they are accredited or not. I'm sure you can learn what you want from these schools but it is doubtful if they will make an impression with any future employers. They like to see schools they recognize on resumes. If the school contacted you, I would be very skeptical. If they need to contact people in order to get students, there's something wrong. Reputable schools don't contact people, the people contact them. University of Phoenix and Strayer online colleges are reputable. They've been around for a long time. As for the others, I couldn't say. I'm fully expecting to hear about "Bubba's College" one of these days. Anyone with a room with a book in it can, legally, call themselves a college. That doesnt' mean they're any good.
